This was an amazing place to visit with my family so many cool things to do. My personal favorite was downstairs, the sand map we stayed at just that part for about 20-30 minutes! This is an amazing place for children even up to adults. An amazing experience for the whole family!

Originally, I was skeptical about taking my young kids (5 & 2) because I thought most of the stuff would be over their heads; however, they had a little area specifically for little ones (age 7 and below, I think). It was perfect! My boys spent 2 hrs playing in just this area so we never really ventured out elsewhere. But, I can report that the little kids’ area had several water tables with toys, a slide and play area, giant blocks and small blocks, a piano, and a little nook for 3 & under with soft, climbable giant blocks and giant story books, along with a comfy couch and chair. Although, it isn’t concealed, it would still be a nice area to nurse if needed. There is also a family restroom in this area (which the whole area is shut in by a door that little ones can’t open); so everything you need is right here. It was great!

Highlights of the day include the moon walk which gives you the sensation of weightlessness, and the tornado chamber in which you can experience tornado force winds. The building itself is a former powerplant for the City of Fort Wayne, with many original components now exhibits.

Great place to entertain children. A good learning experience. It teaches kids about power generators,
electricity, color spectrum, prehistoric animals, building things, gravity and much more. It makes learning science fun as the kids get to apply skills first hand.

We took our two young children (3 and 2) to Science Central because we read that there were specific places for the little ones to explore and play. Most of the things in this area were in okay shape but the problem is that no one was enforcing the age restrictions for this area. There were 3 families with little ones in this area and about 7 or 8 bigger kids that were running around, not following the rules, and making it not fun for the children who were in the area designed for them. Outside of that area there were a few things that were out of order or broken, but most things were in pretty good shape. With all of the windows they could stand to turn up the AC a little bit! Dress for the place to be too warm and not too cool.

This past Saturday we went for the first time to Science Central which is housed in the old Power building in Fort Wayne. There was so many fun things to do and see for our 10 year old. We explored and watched him play and it was great. My favorite part was the AEP Theater where there was a floating sphere that showed each of the planets as well as the sun. It was awesome! The only real critique I have is that I wish there had been more to do! Really it was fantastic! The price was affordable and even the gift shop had a section for those of us who are on a tight budget. Loved it and definitely will go back! We have to since our son was just a little too short for the rim bike.

Just a great asset to the community , fun , inspiring and educational to boot ! Usually an extra educational program provided beside the actual, interactive exhibits. Can be a slow go when crowded to plan accordingly.

This place never really changes. We were here 5 years ago and saw the exact same stuff. A lot of exhibits are damaged or broken or don't function correctly. I had to force my ten yr old to stay long enough to make a full lap around the inside. This visit we were here with a free pass. We won't pay to return.

This is in a great location! It has an awesome old building just outside of the downtown area. It is close to a public park and a skateboarding park. It is dingy looking on the inside of the building. The scientific exhibits are not well maintained and frequently broken or are not working properly. There is a kiddy area which is probably why it has received an overall good rating. There is a fairly large water table with toys and spray areas good for kids 6 and under. Parents usually sit on a bench let their kids run wild here. There is also a floor piano where the kids can step on it with their feet. There is a large two or three story slide with height restrictions so young ones can't go on it. The only good thing is that you can buy a cheap family pass here and get in free to other science museums like the one in Chicago. I wish this were better.

After years of people telling us about it we planned a holiday trip to check it out. Very disappointed. Most of the hand on stations and activities were closed or broken. Hardly any staff around to guide or assist. Then there was the pile of unsupervised kids acting like animals climbing and jumping off stuff. The tilted room was filthy and filled with delinquents. Wouldn’t go back, won’t recommend

We apologize that your experience was unsatisfactory, but thank you for bringing these issues to our attention. Were there specific exhibits you noticed that were not working properly while you were here? We do routine checks on our exhibits, but sometimes they can still get run down if many visitors are using them.

Would my 14 and 16 year old be bored? What age groups would you recommend bringing?

In my opinion, the Science Central might not have enough material to spark their interest for age group 14+. It would be a good place for a pit stop in Fort Wayne if you just want to give it a visit.
Do they accept debit? Or should you bring cash to pay for some exhibits?

I don't know but you could look them up on the internet and give them a call! After you pay the fee to get in, everything is included.
