Scarsdale Senior High School Reviews
Rating 3.74 out of 5 128 reviews
Scarsdale High School is tailored to a majority white heterosexual and cisgender audience. If you are not part of this group, you might struggle to find friends as the school environment is extremely cliquey. There are openly racist, homophobic, transphobic, and misogynistic students, with little to no consequences from the administration. There is no queer or diverse representation, with little to no acknowledgment from the school. As someone who sought mental health support, the counselors and social workers are great to work with and helped me get through the last two years of my time at SHS. I did not enjoy my time at SHS, and I would highly recommend other school districts in the surrounding area.
Great resources academically and lots of great opportunities. I had some really amazing teachers that I’ll probably remember forever and I was able to meet a lot of new friends through clubs and sports. The students are pretty competitive and focused on college, but that prepares you well for college and I really enjoyed my time there!
Scarsdale is overall a very good school district, and excels in testing students. While the teachers are good, I can't be sure that they are better than the average spread of teachers at another public high school. However, Scarsdale has no grade inflation or grade curves, meaning that all GPAs and grades accurately reflect your knowledge of the material. However, Scarsdale's lack of AP classes is annoying, as it means that many go into college with far fewer credits than their college peers. Overall, if Scarsdale begins implementing more AP classes, I would have very few complaints.
