How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

I bought this as a new convert to jazz because it's on udiscovermusic's list of the 50 greatest jazz albums ever [see [...]], and all I can say is I'm glad I did this is a fantastic album. Sarah Vaughan is a great singer but for me what makes this album special is the way the vocals really take a jazz line (I probably haven't said that described that well - buy the album and see for yourself).

vgood album

She is undoubtedly one of the great jazz singers. And this is one of her best. The main reason being that her vocal acrobatics are kept in service of the tune. Clifford Brown is very good as is Paul Quinichette, but Herbie Mann does not rise above his average fare. The company is too good for him. I particularly like April in Paris, but all the tunes are superbly well sung and emotionally engaging - something Ella Fitzgerald never seemed to manage. Great.

Rare recording collaboration, totally appropriate and whats not to love. A must for your jazz library

The voice of Sarah Vaughan and the trumpet of Clifford Brown based on some old favourite songs and some less well known is a great combination. The backing group is good with Quinichette's tenor particularly strong.

Yes Sarah`s album is ok and carried along best through the genius of Clifford Brown and his players. Guess worth a punt if you like easy listening jazz

she's so good

I've read about this album before buying it.
She's in great shape in this album: she used to be good only for a while, her voic declined really fast.
But while she was in shape she was simply the best dot bar.

Stunning

I knew of Sarah Vaughan prior to buying this CD. This is undoubtedly about the music and the ensemble. It has incredible subtlty and depth. I think I did see her live once at a point in my life when I was too young to fully appreciate her magic. Wherever great musicians go after they move on, I wish her the best and thank her for what she did.
