Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A couple of decent murals in a decidedly dodgy and run down part of town. Wouldn’t make a special trip to go here. Only worth a look if you are passing by.

My friends and I had a table booked in the Sandy Row Rangers supporters club to take in the Glasgow Rangers v Celtic football match on January 2nd but game was called off so we decided to go for a drink anyway and visit the club.Walking up Sandy Row and seeing all the murals on the gable ends of peoples houses are a sight to be seen, most people visiting from Europe,Asia etc.probably wouldn’t know the meaning or the history of the murals. In the Sandy Row club owner told us he had been expecting a massive crowd and it would have been great to take in the atmosphere but we enjoyed a few pints and loved seeing all the photos of Ireland greats like George Best and Alex Higgins and also the many great Glasgow Rangers photos and memorabilia on the walls.brilliant.

An interesting area of town, very close to our hotel so we walked down the street to see what we could see. The large mural of William III was well done and the most interesting thing in this Loyalist area of Belfast.

This is an iconic Loyalist area close to Belfast city centre, less touristy than the Shankill. Yes it's rundown and there is a reason for that, in that investment has been directed towards other areas of Belfast and working-class Loyalist neighbourhoods have tended to be left behind. I did not feel in any way intimidated here and provided you behave in a respectful manner you will be safe. There is at least one good pub. The murals are fascinating if you are into that kind of thing, but it's not everyone's cup of tea..

few murals, lots of meaningless shops, quite depressing walk and very little remaining of historical interest. the good news is that we walked to go to some other places but the walk itself is really not interesting

This is a much more depressed version of Shankill Road. It is a Loyalist area (loyal to the Queen and England) but the murals are few (aside from the big William of Orange mural used as a picture for the TripAdvisor post). It's a way to get from the Europa Hotel and Opera House area down to the Botanic Garden and University area in the south. Not much in the way of political importance anymore.

I want to visit Northern Ireland to the see the 12th July parades, as I have seen the fife and drum bands on You-tube, and they sound great. Where is a good place to view the parades and enjoy the music?
We would be staying in a timeshare south of Dublin during our stay on the island. I might be renting a car, but would taking a train into Belfast (from Dublin) be a better option?
What do you do after the parades? I want to see the YCV murals and any for the 36th Ulster.

We went for the 12th Marches last year. Our family took us up the Malone Road, they said it was the safest and more family friendly. We sat on the side of the road and watched the marches - loved it ! Most of the city is shut down so it can be difficult to get around by car. After they march one way they come back in the afternoon this is were we got stuck. We needed to cross the centre of Belfast to get back to the hotel but the roads are closed so we had to wait until the march passed again. I think anywhere in Belfast centre is a good vantage point but remember the 11th and 12th are
Public holidays so there isn't much opened. Despite what you may have heard everyone is very friendly and you might want to ask a few of the locals at the parade where best to enjoy the celebrations to get the full experience. I hope this helps
