SAN FRANCISCO – A man was detained after chemicals to make explosives were found in San Francisco on Friday night.
Officers were called to the 600 block of Gilman Avenue about 5:10 p.m. to assist federal agents with an investigation, the San Francisco Police Department said in a tweet.
Police said a resident of an RV was detained after Federal Bureau of Investigation agents found the chemicals. Nearby residents were also evacuated. The Candlestick RV Park is located at 650 Gilman Ave.
The San Francisco Fire Department and the SFPD Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit were also summoned to the scene.
“This appears to be an isolated incident and the investigation has been turned over to the department,” police said in a follow-up tweet.
The investigation is in its early stages and no other information was available late Friday, police said.
