In 2008, the Indian Premier League took over the entertainment scene, rapidly establishing itself as the premier cricket league globally. Initially, it featured eight teams, with ownership stakes held by Bollywood icons
Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, and Shilpa Shetty. Over time, the league has grown to include more teams. Surprisingly, not many are aware that Salman Khan had once expressed interest in owning a team.
In a 2009 interview with Midday, Salman Khan said that he wanted to buy an IPL team and that it was a long process involving bidding. He and
Lalit Modi have discussed this. It is a long process, involving bidding and all that. Clarifying on his decision, Salman had further added, "I want to buy one of the two new teams that they are going to introduce. People think I want to buy a team because of an ego hassle with Shah Rukh. Suniel [Shetty] put it very well the other day, I don't think somebody will put in hundreds of crores for an ego hassle." While he didn't end up investing in the league, Salman later tweeted in 2012 on the same topic, "No IPL team for me, just being human and movies."
On the work front, Salman Khan was last seen in 'Tiger 3'. He is currently working on 'Tiger versus Pathaan', wherein Salman will share the frame with Shah Rukh Khan. Apart from this, Salman will also be seen in 'Sikandar', which is slated for release during Eid 2025.
