This series of books was what started my life long love of reading and imagination. This book was destroyed during one of many moves over the years. I would randomly search for it online and located this copy that was being sold by a library. Thank you for helping me re-complete this collection. It was in near perfect condition and I can not wait to start reading the series again, 38 years later. Hopefully, my children will someday enjoy reading them too and kindle their spark of imagination.

..it starts to get bigger and bigger as it rushes down to the bottom. Let me explain. Gary Gygax is a God among game players. He loves his details, which is perfect for a man who makes and designs settings for worlds to play in. It also makes his books wonderful to dive in. Sometimes. The start of the book starts out with a ton of wonderful details, good characters, and a solid plot. But as the book moves on, the stories increase and the details decrease. It starts to feel rushed and for those of us who don't know anything about the World of Greyhawk fantasy setting it can become a tad overwhelming. By the end of the book you may wonder if you want to continue to the next book in the series. This is the first in the series, not to be confused with City of Hawks (Gord the Rogue, No. 2) which is a retelling of his earlier years. At least you will know by the end of the book if you wish to continue with the rest of the series. By the way, book 2 in the series is Artifact of Evil (Greyhawk Adventures Book 2) NOT City of Hawks.

I first read this decades ago in paperback, so I was surprised to see it in kindle form. It has weakened with time or I have changed enough, that the saga of an adventurers growth doesn't hold me as much. Still, it was pleasant enough to visit a story that evoked the campaigns of summer gaming in years past.
