The Economical and Effective Way to Eradicate Destructive Insects

Safer Brand Insect Soap is a long-standing formula derived from natural ingredients, proven to kill a variety of plant-eating insects on contact. And this powerful concentrate packs over 50 times the amount of active ingredient into just one small, economical bottle - making over 6 gallons of solution. Miz one part Insect Soap Concentrate with 50 parts water, and store the rest.

OMRI Listed and Approved for Organic Gardening

Safer Brand Insect Soap is OMRI listed and approved for organic gardening, so you can spray generously onto your plants, trees, shrubs, flowers, fruits and vegetables to protect them from the most damaging of insects up until the day of harvest.

A Trusted Remedy Proven to Kill Harmful Insects

Insecticidal soap (otherwise known as potassium salts of fatty acids) is made with natural plant extracts that dehydrate and kill certain insects on contact. Soft-bodied insects like aphids and mealybugs are most effected by insecticidal soap, which works by weakening their bodies’ waxy coating and penetrating their cellular membranes causing them to dehydrate and die. Just mix and spray at the first signs of insects, and apply regularly when insects are present to keep your plants pest-free.

Just Spray to Protect

Fruits and Vegetables

Apply directly to your organic crops until the day of harvest.

Flowers

Defend your roses and a range of other flower varieties. But first, test for any rare sensitivities.

Ornamentals

Easily treat any trees and shrubs that may be susceptible to destructive infestations.

Houseplants

Apply as directed indoors on houseplants without worrying about harming your family or pets.

The Benefits of Organic Gardening

Besides preventing the harmful effects caused by synthetic chemicals, organic gardening offers a host of additional economic and health benefits. An organic regimen saves money in the long run by helping to create sustainable gardens that produce greater yields, reducing the need for fertilizers and pest controls over time. Furthermore, increased organic matter in your soil reduces erosion and conserves water, and organic produce is more flavorful and nutrient-dense. Because Safer Brand products are third-party certified for use in organic gardening - both by OMRI and the NOP - you can be sure that the pest control products you choose fit into an organic gardening regimen.

Product Description

Product Description

Safer Brand 16 oz. Concentrate Insect Killing Soap kills a variety of insect pests including aphids, whiteflies and mealybugs. Safer Brand Insect Killing Soap utilizes the power of potassium salts of fatty acids to weaken the insect's waxy protective outer shell. Apply every 7-10 days when insects are present or as needed to prevent further damage. This 16 fl oz container will make 6 gal of protection for your garden. Since Safer Brand insect killing soap is a contact killer, several applications may be needed for full control. As a general rule, much like watering, do not use these products in the peak of the day or when temperatures exceed 90 degrees F to avoid wilting or browning of the leaves. It breaks down into their natural elements within 7-10 days and will not persist in the environment.

From the Manufacturer

Use on houseplants, ornamental foliage plants, flowering plants, and fruits and vegetables. Kill aphids, mealy bugs, spider mites, and whiteflies. 16 oz. concentrate.

KILLS APHIDS DEAD

KILLS APHIDS DEAD
Our cucumbers are always plagued by aphids. The dish detergent and water soultion was not very effective last year. In theory it will work, but the mixture needs to be right, and you have to be careful as not to dry out the plants. So we pryed open the wallet this year in hopes we would have cucumbers that looked like cucumbers. The safer soap has worked great. No more aphids. The directions state to apply the solution upon the appearance of insects and repeat once a week for up to 3 weeks, if needed. It's not really to be used as a preventative, but a treatment. The soultion works like dish detergent would. It dries out the aphids and kills them dead. Watch your plants closely though, every day. Spray them as soon as you see the bugs. If left too long, your vegetables will become small and deformed.Read well too, the mixing instructions. The level of active ingredient, in your mixed solution, may be smaller than the amount in the pre-mixed version of this insect soap. So you might need to mix it stronger if it doesn't seem to be working. Although, we had no problems killing the bugs with the recommended mixing quantities.Make sure you spray the underside of the leaves where the aphids are. Spraying the tops of the leaves will be a waste of time and money. Also generously coat the underside of the leaves, so it is completely saturated and dripping off. Don't be cheap or your garden will suffer.Depending on how many plants you need to cover, 1-2 bottles of this should last you the whole season, assusming you are just growing at home for yourself.Great product, we have been very happy with DEAD Aphids.

I really love this stuff. I had a severe case of aphids that spread rapidly. So much so, I was actually considering just tossing the infected plants which is not something iv ever done because my plants are like my babies.

I didnt want to use any store bought pesticides because in the past, even with following the directions exactly, my plants always ended up getting chemical burns.

I have two cats who love to nibble when im not around and a 3 year old who shares my loves for plants and is always helping to water and care for them. I needed something strong enough to take care of this problem but mild enough to cause no harm to my daughter, cats and the plants themselves. I did a ton of research and decided this was my best choice.

Im soo pleased with how well this worked. The smell is strong but thats mother natures fault lol I just tried not to breath it in, I also wore gloves and sprayed them down away from where we hang out outside. Being its summer, I let them hang out outside for a few days under my table umbrella and would check on them daily. I would say 90% of the aphids were dead by day one and by day 3 any leftovers slowly died off as well. The plants didnt get any burns at all, in fact I feel like they all look healthier and stronger then before all this happened. I would 100% recommend this. I plan on doing this bi yearly to all my plants as a way to prevent infestations in the future.

A couple complaints iv read were that the bottle you get is smaller then it looks in the pictures because it has a handle and most bottles with handles are meant for gallons, although I agree the pictures can give off that impression, its really not a problem considering one treatment doesn't require a lot of product, so I don't find that to even be a problem. In fact I like that its smaller because it was easier to pour and control plus storing it doesn't take a lot of space.

Another complaint was that when it arrived it solidified, yes mine was this way as well, but I simply left it out in the sun while I set up my treatment area and got everything I needed together and by the time I was ready to use (about 30 minutes) it was melted enough that I was able to use it. By the time I put everything away it was completely melted. It sais in the directions that you can always heat up some water and let the bottle sit in the water for a bit (like heating up a bottle for a baby). Again not a big deal and for how well this product worked is certainly not going to stop me from purchasing again when I run out.

In short, it was effective, easy to use and considering its natural and safe, its a no brainer.

I like it’s safer to use and still does the job. It has even gotten mealy bugs off my orchids

The bottle arrived without any instructions for dilution of the concentrated solution and no safety instructions. The bottle appeared unopened so I will have to look up directions online and just tape it to the bottle myself. I’m not happy with that but product reviews say it is a good product and I need something that works!

I had aphids all over my Elephant ear plant that I'm keeping inside during the winter. I tried several things including home-made brews and nothing worked. I used this twice, three days apart and it's been two weeks now and NO aphids. This stuff works. I'd buy it again.

First a big Thank You to 'Truth seeker' for helpful info on dilution of concentrate. I have successfully used the 2% premixed on Lanternfly with no damage to roses or willow. According to Pennsylvania State Extension service, insecticidal soap IS effective, rated as 'Good'. They only have 3 ratings---poor, good, and excellent. All the 'excellent' stuff is very toxic and not something i want to play with, especially because i have a big pond of frogs and fish and many birds who would be harmed by those chemicals. The Safer only kills on contact, so you would need to revisit those monsters as needed. It has no residual activity and you have to soak them with it. I loaded Safer in a 2 liter Solo sprayer with extendable wand and set it for stream to treat a willow tree that's about 10 feet tall. Sticky bands do not work on this tree b/c it trails its branches on the ground, so nymphs just crawl/hop onto it. You have to walk in circles a lot when spraying like this b/c they crawl to the opposite side of the branch when you hit them. 2 hours later i revisited that tree, after spraying a full 2 liters of Safer onto numerous conga lines of nymphs, and i saw 2 individuals living. This insect has a pattern to their feeding that i have observed for 3 seasons: the nymphs prefer the willow, and the adults prefer the birch. So i can do sticky bands on the birch and don't need the Safer there. Also birch is far too tall to spray anyway. For winged adults on the birch, i just use water-- set a hose nozzle on jet and they fall to the ground --to be stomped, and those i miss crawl up the trunk to get stuck in sticky bands. I put 2 ten inch bands on the birch which sometimes need to be changed daily--with window screening tented over it, held in place at the top with push pins. (Hose water jets work poorly on the nymphs b/c being wingless they are not weighted down by water. ) The manufacturer will only tell you something is effective for a particular insect if they have tested it themselves, so just b/c they don't specifically say Safer works for SLF, that doesn't meant it won't.
