AMY Huberman left hospital tonight for the first time since giving birth to baby Sadie five days ago.

Doting new dad Brian carried the couple’s first child to the car as the three travelled home for the first time as a family.

Both Amy and Sadie have remained in the National Maternity hospital since last Sunday when the actress gave birth by caesarean section.

Brian was at Amy’s bedside just hours before he took to the field for Ireland’s Six Nations clash with England.

Amy attended the IFTAs on Saturday night with her mother Sandra, as Brian remained at Dublin’s Shelbourne hotel with the Irish team.

Sandra said earlier this week that her 33-year-old daughter was in good form. "Amy's flying, we're so delighted," she said. "It's our first grandchild and we're thrilled. She's beautiful."

Strict visiting regulations meant none of the couple's extended family or friends were allowed access to the maternity ward's private wing.

Only fathers and grandparents are allowed to visit mothers and newborns
