Ryan Phillippe paid off his ex-fiancée — and now it may play a role in his ex-girlfriend’s case against him.
Phillippe told a Los Angeles Police Department officer that he paid off Paulina Slagter after she filed a police report against him alleging that he was harassing her via text message, The Blast reported. Now, his ex-girlfriend, Elsie Hewitt, wants those records in regards to her suit against him.
The admission came as part of an LAPD investigation report obtained by the outlet, which stated, “I/O had prior knowledge that the suspect was the suspect on another crime report … dated March 26, 2017. The victim was his ex-fiancé [sic] of six years. The suspect was sending harassing text messages to the victim. The criminal case was dropped. The suspect advised I/O that he had to pay out the victim. He did not reveal the amount given to the victim.”
But a source told Page Six on Wednesday that no money was exchanged aside from Phillippe paying a very nominal amount for her lawyer’s fees.
Now Hewitt’s lawyers want that police report in regards to her case. She sued Phillippe for $1 million in September 2017 after he allegedly punched her and kicked her down the stairs in his Los Angeles home on July 3 of that year.
He later denied her claims, saying that she is just trying to extort him.
Phillippe, 44, was married to Reese Witherspoon from 1997 to 2007. Phillippe has already been ordered to hand over all of his text messages with Witherspoon for the case.
He then dated Abbie Cornish and Alexis Knapp before becoming engaged to Paulina Slagter in 2011. They broke up in 2016.
Hewitt, 22, began dating Phillippe in April 2017, but they broke up in July.
A rep for Phillippe told us in a statement: “Ryan was found innocent by the LAPD of the crime for which he was accused. As is her right, Hewitt has decided to sue Ryan civilly. Ryan has, and will continue to provide necessary information and resources as requested by her council, as deemed necessary by the court. We continue to look forward to the civil trial which will supplement the findings of the LAPD’s findings of innocence nearly two years ago.”
His legal team told us in a statement: “Attorneys for Hewitt attempted to subpoena records from LAPD concerning prior claims of assault, battery, and/or harassment only to learn from the LAPD that no such documents exist.”
