Evelyn Sheer Obituary

Evelyn T. (Hinkle) Sheer, wife, mother, sister, gramy, 93, of Drums passed away Tuesday in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton.

Born Monday, Sept. 3, 1928, in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Theresa (Romanchick) Hinkle.

Evelyn was also predeceased by beloved spouse, Joseph Sheer; son, Joseph T. Sheer; sisters, Frances E. Harahush, Ruth Postupack and Helen Burke; and brothers, Edward and William Hinkle.

Surviving are her daughter, Dianne T. Bloor, wife of Robert, with whom she resided; son, Stephen T. Sheer along with wife, Teresa, Kline Twp.; brothers, Robert Hinkle, Weatherly; John Hinkle and his wife, Dorothy, Weatherly; grandchildren, James, Stephen Jr., Scott, Francis, Natalie, Martin, Kenny and Jessica; and six great-grandchildren.

Evelyn and her late husband, Joseph, operated The Tamaqua Laundry and Dry Cleaning, Tamaqua, from 1948 to 1970. After closing the business, Evelyn managed the Deb Shop, Lehighton, for many years. Evelyn looked forward to vacations and enjoyed her travels. Evelyn was a longtime member of the former Ss. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Tamaqua, now St. John XXIII.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 655 E. Broad St., Tamaqua.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John XXIII R.C. Church, 307 Pine St., Tamaqua.

Friends may call from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Ss. Peter and Paul R.C. Church Cemetery, Beaver Meadows.
