Sandhurst seeking civilian volunteers to join panel to improve officer cadets' welfare
The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst is looking for volunteers to join a new advisory panel that is focused on the provision of welfare for its officer cadets.
RMA Sandhurst made the appeal with a post on social media site X and said it was looking for volunteers from outside the military.
The post went on to say experience in safeguarding, working with young adults and managing stakeholders at all levels would be considered useful.
The volunteers would be responsible for feeding back on the quality of training and support as well as the personal and professional development of the officer cadets.
They would also feed back on the quality of infrastructure and resources, and the effectiveness of leadership and management.
The announcement comes after allegations emerged of toxic behaviour at the military college, with the MOD saying Sandhurst was paving the way for culture change across the British Army in March last year.
The international reputation of RMAS was tarnished after the death of Officer Cadet Olivia Perks in 2019, and the damning service inquiry report which followed.
Four years later, new policies and practices were put into place and Sandhurst has thrown open its doors to try to show it is changing and creating a more inclusive place for women to work.
