International Engagement
The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst is proud of it's illustrious history of training international students and delivering training, in-country, to nations across the globe.
International students at Sandhurst
There has been 5,400 international students trained at the Academy since 1947, from 129 countries. The international cadets enrich the course at Sandhurst bringing with them cultural and operational experience from around the world.
Students are selected by their own defence organisations and their applications are made to the Ministry of Defence through the Defence Attaché.
Exercise Dynamic Influence
Sandhurst academics have been supporting the work of Defence Attachés by running week-long educational courses across the world. Sandhurst lecturers are Civil Servants and teach at master’s level in the Academy.
Each course is modified for the particular audience being taught. If requested and given sufficient lead time they can also research and design other academic courses if requested. Training is currently provided at no cost to the host nation.
The Sandhurst Medal
The Sandhurst Medal was introduced in 2016 to recognise the extraordinary achievement of those International Students who successfully complete the Commissioning Course at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
The recipients of the Sandhurst Medal join an esteemed list of over 5400 International Alumni from over 129 different countries. Recipients also receive open membership of the Sandhurst Trust which enables them to keep in touch with the Academy and the friends they made whilst on the course.
