- CAPerthPerth228 contributionsAs others have noted this church located next to the Kremlin is under restoration and looks like a burnt out shell. But this is what adds to the appeal, to see the faded wall frescoes and the empty iconostasis. We were fortunate to see some of the restoration of the paintings on the wall panels and doors in progress – obviously a very slow and painstaking process.Written May 9, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Church of St John the Divine on the Ishnya River (Rostov, Yaroslavl region) – one of the few wooden churches in Central Russia. It is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (May, 1 – October, 1).
