Rosella Ayane: “Tottenham is my home”

Fri 14 July 2023, 11:15|Tottenham Hotspur

Rosella Ayane feels right at home in N17.

Putting pen to paper on a new deal with us on Friday morning, Rosella affirmed her commitment to the Club by signing a new contract until 2025.

Having first signed for us back in Bristol City in 2019, right at the start of our Barclays Women’s Super League journey, Rosella has gone from strength to strength in her four years in Lilywhite so far and has ‘loved every second’ of it.

Now set for another two years in our colours, the Morocco international is determined to kick on after the difficulties of 2022/23 in a place she calls home.

“I’m over the moon,” she said. “For me, Tottenham is my home. It’s somewhere I’ve spent four years and loved every second. I don’t think any player’s journey is ever easy so I’m delighted to be here for another two years and call it home.

“The environment and group of players that we have is one of the main reasons I wanted to stay. We’ve also got a great group of staff who, especially in the last ten weeks, have really pushed me and given me another injection of confidence and belief. I think that’s showed in my performances. They make me feel valued and loved, so that’s one of the main reasons why I wanted to stick around.”

I want to kick on assisting and getting goals where I can. Becoming more consistent in general is a big personal target of mine.

But, while Ros will be buoyed by her efforts in helping us retain our WSL status, her focus is now on finding consistency in her performances so she can continue to improve her attacking return in the new campaign.

“When I look at last season, it was definitely been ups and downs for everyone, but for myself personally, in the last ten weeks, I really tried to kick on,” she explained. “When we found ourselves in a deep relegation battle, I really tried to step up. One thing about me is that I will always give my best to the team. I’ll leave literally everything I have out on the pitch. Especially in the last ten weeks, I can say that I did that fully and gave everything. Thank goodness we managed to stay up. It wasn’t a position I think we deserved to be in but that’s football and hopefully we can kick on from that next year.

“Personally, I want to kick on assisting and getting goals where I can. Becoming more consistent in general is a big personal target of mine. The best players have consistency and that’s what makes them world class. That’s something I’m going to look to achieve personally.

“As a group, for us it’s about improving. I remember being sat here with my last contract and I said that Rome wasn’t built in a day, and I still believe that. The direction that the Club is going in is really positive and I’m really excited for next season and what’s to come.”
