John Ronald Elliott, 71, passed away on February 29, 2020. Ronnie was born August 24, 1948 to Ann and Paul Elliott.
He followed in his father's footsteps and was a well-known building contractor in Palestine. He knew he met his soulmate when he tasted her crawfish bisque on their first date and felt fortunate to marry a Cajun. His retired life included being the best Pops to his granddaughter, Cora, enjoying time on his tractor, attending to his "livestock," woodworking, beekeeping, and being a student of nature. Ronnie was a hard worker but always had on his dancing shoes and paired well with fine scotch. He loved his country and served in the Navy, which fueled a passion for traveling. He was a member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Helen Elliott; his sister, Deborah and her partner, Pat Davis; his beloved children, Helen and her partner Becky Hancock, Langdon and his wife Tiffany; and his granddaughter, Cora.
Memorial service to be held on Thursday at 11:00am at St. Philip's Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in memory of Ronnie. Arrangements are under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
Tree Planting Timeline
Orders placed in:
January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
