Watch Barcelona Defender Ronald Araujo Score Clasico Own Goal

Real Madrid took an early lead in Sunday's Clasico when Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo scored an own goal.

It came nine minutes into the game when Araujo got his head on the end of a hopeful cross from Vinicius Junior, after the Brazilian had dribbled past several players.

The ball flicked backwards off Araujo's forehead and diverted onto the inside of the near post before landing in the back of the net.

This was the first own goal scored in La Liga in a game between Real and Barca this century.

However, it was the second Clasico own goal of March 2023, after Real defender Eder Militao had struck at the wrong end to give Barca a 1-0 win in the Copa del Rey earlier this month.

Barca leveled Sunday's game at 1-1 just before half-time when Sergi Roberto took control of the ball inside a congested penalty area before finishing clinically past Thibaut Courtois to score his fourth goal of the season.

Real thought that they had retaken the lead in the 81st minute but Marco Asensio saw his strike disallowed for offside following a VAR review.

Barca then claimed all three points thanks to an added-time winner from Franck Kessie.
