How did Ronald Acuna Jr. and Eddie Rosario do in the World Baseball Classic?
Ronald Acuna Jr. and Eddie Rosario both competed in the World Baseball Classic over the last few weeks. Rosario played for team Puerto Rico, and Acuna Jr. was a part of team Venezuela.
How did these two look at the World Baseball Classic?
Acuna Jr.: 4-18/.222 Avg/ 2 RBI/ 1 2B/ 2 BB/ 4 R
Rosario: 3-17/.176 Avg/ 2 HR/ 4 RBI/ 1 2B/ 1 BB
Neither of these guys had great statistical showings at the World Baseball Classic, but there were definitely some positives to take away from their time in this tournament.
The positives for Rosario were the two home runs. Rosario only hit five home runs last season, so it was good to see some pop in his bat. Of course, it is well known that Rosario can accumulate a lot of homers as he hit over 25 long balls three straight years with the Twins in 2017, 18, and 19.
Rosario has only hit 12 home runs in his two seasons with the Braves. Now he has only played 113 games, but you would still have expected his total to be higher in his time with the Braves.
Hopefully, his showing at the World Baseball Classic is a sign of what is to come with the power numbers for Rosario in 2023.
Acuna Jr. didn't have a great statistical showing, either hit or average-wise, but the positive to take away from his time was he looked explosive in the outfield and running the bases.
Also, THIS:
He seems to be fully back to 100% after the ACL tear in 2021, and the numbers at the plate will come for the three time All-Star outfielder.
Braves fans shouldn't be concerned with the averages from these two at the World Baseball Classic, as this is basically their spring training.
These two will continue to get adjusted to live arms and be ready for big seasons in 2023.
They are both heading home from the World Baseball Classic and will finish spring training with the Braves for a final tune-up before the season kicks off on March 30th.
