The 3,000 Hits Club is a collection of Major League Baseball players who have recorded 3,000 or more regular-season hits during their big league career.
Reaching 3,000 hits, in our opinion, is a benchmark of true greatness that few will ever achieve. Every player who reaches the 3,000 Hits Club has hall of fame skills with a baseball bat, and every one of them should be on a plaque in Cooperstown.
Baseball Almanac is pleased to present the elite hitters who have reached the magical 3,000-hits plateau and achieved baseball immortality through the 3,000 Hits Club. Links to player biographies, pitcher biographies (those who gave up the record setting hit), some box scores, a bold notation for players who are in the Hall of Fame, and italicized names are those who are active this season.

Cap Anson was the first player to join/start the 3,000 Hits Club. During the 1887 season, bases on balls were counted as hits and Anson walked 60 times. In an effort to "clean up history" a committee changed the rules of that particular season (and others) thus revoking Anson from the club. The rules were restored to their original format in 2001, and Anson is once again a member of the club he started.
Did you know that Craig Biggio, George Brett, Roberto Clemente, Tony Gwynn, Derek Jeter, Al Kaline, Stan Musial, Cal Ripken, Jr., Carl Yastrzemski and Robin Yount each reached 3,000 hits while playing with only one Major League team?
3,000 Hits Club Trivia
Ty Cobb was the fourth player to reach the 3,000 Hits Club and the first player in baseball history to reach 4,000 hits. Pete Rose was next player to join the 4,000 hits club and both of them had all of their career hits in the same league.
Cal Ripken, Jr. has the lowest (.276) career batting average in the 3,000 Hits Club. Ty Cobb has the highest (.367).
Cap Anson was the first to join the 3,000 Hits Club with a single. Honus Wagner was the first with a double. Paul Molitor was the first with a triple. Wade Boggs was the first with a home run.
Craig Biggio attempted to stretch his 3,000 hit, a single, into a double, and was thrown out at second on the play — the only 3,000 Hits Club member to have that happen on the historic play.
Hank Aaron, Miguel Cabrera, Willie Mays, Eddie Murray, Rafael Palmeiro, Albert Pujols and Alex Rodriguez are the only seven members of the 3,000 Hits Club who are also members of the 500 Home Runs Club (five righties, one lefty, one switch-hitter).
