      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Undisciplined, scatological, profoundly silly, and often utterly groan-worthy, Robin Hood: Men in Tights still has an amiable, anything-goes goofiness that has made it a cult favorite.

E R One of the best Robin Hood's of all time. Dave Chappelle plays Achoo And the movie all around is full of comedy yet still holds the charm of Robin Hood. One would think that Mel Brooks made this movie is so good. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/12/24 Full Review Mollie L It's a classic! So many witty jokes. Timeless. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/24 Full Review Christopher M After a half hour, it felt like a chore to finish watching this movie. The humor is bad and corny. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/24 Full Review Chris - I love it. Funny as hell! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/30/23 Full Review matthias s "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" is like a jester trying a bit too hard to tickle your funny bone. The film certainly aims to steal your attention, but instead, it swipes a bit of your patience. Picture this: Robin and his merry men sporting tights tighter than a rubber band on a summer day. It's a wild ensemble that's more daring than Prince John's tax collection strategy. Now, don't get me wrong, there are chuckles aplenty. From the "blink and you'll miss it" jokes to the ones that hang around a tad too long, the humor's like an arrow — some hit the bullseye while others go astray. The film dances through a medieval medley of puns, parodies, and pratfalls, but it's as if the comedic timing gets lost in Sherwood Forest. Mel Brooks would say, "It's good to be the king," but perhaps not always the director. While "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" doesn't quite make it to legendary status, it's a merry romp that might just make you chuckle through your medieval mustache. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/15/23 Full Review Jamie M Mel Brooks' greatest. Critic scoring can suck it. They expect too much out of a movie. It's hilarious and witty, and offers a satirical version of Robin Hood to exist. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Bill Cosford Miami Herald The movie is not nearly as bawdy as it needs to be. Or as smart, either. Rated: 2/4 Aug 18, 2021 Full Review Johanna Steinmetz Chicago Tribune Robin Hood: Men In Tights, Brooks' spoof of the Robin Hood legend, gets off to a creaky start before it loosens up and produces laughs. Rated: 2.5/4 Dec 7, 2018 Full Review Angie Errigo Empire Magazine To say that this is the funniest film Mel Brooks has co-written, produced and directed in some years is, alas, not saying very much. Rated: 2/5 Dec 7, 2018 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins Though it’s consistently amusing (yet largely toothless in its originality and edge), there isn't a wealth of laugh-out-loud moments.
