Roberto Soldić Aims To Make ONE History In MMA & Kickboxing (Exclusive)

Roberto Soldić spoke with MMA News ahead of ONE's U.S. debut.

ONE middleweight contender Roberto Soldić wants to make history with one of the top promotions in the world.

Soldić is arguably one of the top talents outside of the UFC and Bellator in MMA today. He attained 'champ-champ' status in KSW and defeated current UFC contender Dricus du Plessis for the middleweight belt.

Soldić's ONE debut didn't go according to plan as his matchup with Murad Ramazanov ended in a no-contest. Just a few months later, he'll return at ONE Fight Night 10 for the promotion's first card on United States soil.

Soldić is an accomplished striker and brings a ferocious pace to his fights. He feels that the flexibility that ONE provides, including fights in kickboxing and MMA, could allow him to etch himself in the history books.

Roberto Soldić Is One Of The Best Outside Of The UFC

During an exclusive interview with MMA News, Soldić explained his lofty goals for his run in ONE.

"In ONE Championship I can have two belts," Soldić said. "This is a really tough challenge, like people before in Pride and K-1...now in ONE Championship you have everything in one organization. The best guys in the world in striking, grappling...I choose this way. I like challenges, and I try to give my best and to take those, but for now MMA gold first. I'm focused on that right now and down the line, we will see."

If he were to win titles in kickboxing and MMA, Soldić would become the first ONE fighter to hold two titles in two different disciplines simultaneously. ONE's Muay Thai kickboxing matches are some of the most watched in combat sports, featuring superstars like Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Superbon.

First thing's first for Soldić as he gets ready to face former ONE champion Zebaztian Kadestam on May 5th. The card is headlined by the trilogy between Demetrious Johnson and Adriano Moraes.

Soldić turned down offers from the UFC and other major promotions to continue his fighting career in ONE. The unique challenges that ONE presents in both MMA and kickboxing could bring out the best of the Croatian star.
