Italy vs France (World Cup Final, 2006)

The world has witnessed some classic matches whenever Italy and France have come up against each other. One of the most epic clashes was in the World Cup final in 2006. Both the sides scored within the first 20 minutes of the match. With the scores level at 1-1 after the regulation time, and the world still coping with Zidane's sending-off in the extra-time. In the end it was decided in penalty shoot-outs where Italy emerged the winners for the fourth time.

Brazil vs Italy (World Cup Final, 1994)

Brazil and Italy had the first ever World Cup final which came to a conclusion with a penalty shoot out. It was a clash between two of the most successful countries in the tournament’s history. Having gone through 120 minutes with both unable to score. Legendary names such as Franco Baresi, Daniele Massaro and Roberto Baggio sent their shots and Dunga's goal proved to be decisive for Brazil in this supremely unattractive game. It was Brazil’s fourth title.

West Germany vs France (World Cup Semi-Final, 1982)

The World Cup semi final between West Germany and France was a classic. It finished 3-3 after extra-time, packed with enough drama to fill a whole tournament, but more was to follow. The Germans followed up with three successful penalties while Bossis missed his opportunity to hand over the win to the Germans.

Portugal vs England (World Cup Quarter-Final, 2006)

Much like David Beckham did eight years ago, Wayne Rooney left England undermanned in a World Cup game and once again it helped their rivals come off unbeaten after 120 minutes. It was a total extravaganza moment as the game was going into see-saw battle. But finally, The young sensational Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up from the spot to guide Portugal to the semis of the World Cup while England were sent home.

Argentina vs England (World Cup Round-16, 1998)

The game which made David Beckham the undeserving villain for earning himself a red card for a slight flick at the wily Diego Simeone. After extra-time, the scores were 2-2 which went into a penalty shoot-out. With Batty and Ince failing to score for England, It was Argentina who had the upper hand by scoring 4 out off 5 goals and won 4-3.

Italy vs Argentina (World Cup Semi-Final, 1990)

The game because of which, Argentina was called as the ‘most undeserving finalists in the history of World Cup. The game was evenly poised as both teams were locked at 1-1 after extra time. Roberto Donadoni, Aldo Serena, Walter Zenga failed to score in the penalties whereas Maradona’s Argentina scored 4 out of 5 goals which took Argentines into the finals.

South Korea vs Spain (World Cup Quarter-Final, 2002)
