- zenny382 contributionsSo I went for a 2 1/2 hour sail with Captain Jim of North Star Sailing Charters and had a wonderful time. We saw Dolphins swimming right next to the boat and Captain Jim was quick enough (experience) to get photos of the dolphins! Well I had so much fun, I went for another sail with him 3 days later. We had beautiful wind out of the north and a fabulous sail, skimming across the Sound. I suggest taking the early ferry!! The earlier the better. Once the boat is full it leaves the dock (we left a little before 9am because the boat was full). You can bring your own beach chairs but their are chairs and umbrellas already there (first come, first serve) we rented 3 chairs and an umbrella for 30 dollars for the day.
We brought our own snacks, drinks, raft, beach ball, etc. However, they have snack, drinks and beach items for sale on the island, if you don’t want to carry a bunch of stuff around.
The water was cool, refreshing, and clear! (completely different than the water along the coast. ) we were lucky enough to see dolphins from
the boat and sting rays off the dock. Be prepared to walk! The beach with chair rentals and lifeguards is located on the other side of the island. There is a boardwalk the leads from one side to the other, but it can be a long, hot, and tiring walk for some.

WOW, we had a blast! It would have been nice to land a BIG fish but catching those sea trout was fun plus the fight I had with 2 sharks and a stingray. Kevin was not only great at navigating the waters but also had extensive knowledge of the area, making the tour both informative and enjoyable. His friendly demeanor added a welcoming touch to the trip, and the prompt service ensured that we maximized our time on the water. - KFY821Roland, OK227 contributionsDidn't really know what to expect so we were very pleased with the experience! Probably the wrong time of the year (Sept) to go but we had a lot of fun. Only caught a couple of small mackerel that we could keep but the guys pulled in 5 25-30 pound Jack fish that put up quite a fight. That made the trip worth it all. We were given the group weekday discount and were quickly bussed to the starting point to get our float started. The friendly staff were knowledgeable and shared information about sites best for our picnic and rope swinging. Overall, it was a great day outdoors with the extended family.
