At Fayerweather we are committed to keeping our school affordable to families of different economic means, believing that socio-economic diversity is an important component of our mission. We work closely with each family to do our best to make tuition and a Fayerweather education within reach for as many applicants as possible. Extracurricular activities and extended care are pro-rated at approximately the same level as tuition. In the 2020-2021 school year, Fayerweather allocated more than $1,200,000 to a program of need-based tuition assistance. This year 30% of the student body will receive tuition assistance. The average aid amount is approximately $21,000.

FSS Basketball Wraps Up A Stellar Season
Congrats to the dedicated students of this year's FSS basketball season! We had a great year of skill-building, teamwork, hard work, and competitive games. The season started at the end of November and ran through February break. We played schools such as JCDS, CFS, Carroll School, Belmont Day, etc. The girls' team is well-positioned for a bright future, with numerous players poised for continued improvement in the coming years.While the boys' team was in a rebuilding year, they now have a strong group of players ready to lead them to success in the upcoming years. Sap to Syrup: PreK's Tree Tapping Adventures
Prior to February Break, the PreK class embarked on our third annual tree tapping project at Fresh Pond Reservation! We roamed beyond Black’s Nook and over to the “big pond” to a cluster of maple trees. We met with Ranger Tim, who told us about the distinctions among living, dead, and non-living things and demonstrated the process of how trees transport sugar and water internally. We inserted taps into two maple trees and attached buckets under to catch the sap as it began to flow. We have continued to visit our maples several times a week to thank the trees for the sap they give us and to bring the new collection back to school.Read More -
Building Civilizations From Scratch
Read MoreOver the course of three weeks, spanning from Thanksgiving to Winter Break, our Grade 5-6 students embarked on an exciting journey of creating their own imagined civilizations. This endeavor involved crafting detailed maps, informative blurbs, and formal essays.To kickstart this project, we began by exploring the basic concept of what constitutes a civilization. We delved into the pivotal role of agriculture in shaping the course of civilizations, examined the locations of some of the world's oldest civilizations, and contemplated the meaning of the term "civilization" itself. We undertook brainstorming sessions and drew inspiration from the story of “Weslandia,” where a child developed his own civilization based on a staple crop grown in his backyard. -

Amelia, Katherine, and Izaak have been working alongside our Younger Extended Day students by spending time crafting, building, and playing soccer together. Hanna, Fiona, and Thaddeuss join our Middle & Older Extended Day students in the library for socializing, homework, and board games. Meanwhile, Katie and I float throughout our groups to make sure everyone has a great time!

After a hiatus, the Love March returns in 2024! On May 16, 2024, we are holding our annual Children's March and Love Rally.
One of Fayerweather's four pillars of our educational approach states that education must address the themes and issues of our times. A cornerstone of our education is the imperative to respond to the world around us. As a community this means thinking critically about questions of power and privilege, race and history, and the impact of our actions on the world around us.
One way our students do that is through the Fayerweather Unit Students-led Love March. Students pick a theme and organize a walk, rally, and art, poetry, and speeches around a theme.
As part of the Children’s March and Love Rally, there are contests for students of local schools.
