MOORHEAD — Richard Solberg, board chairman for Bell Bank, has been selected as the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce's 2022 Legacy Leader award recipient.
Solberg will be presented with the award at the Chamber's annual celebration, which is scheduled for noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, at the Delta by Marriott in Fargo.
The Legacy Leader award is presented annually to an individual "who has made significant contributions to the community." Recent recipients have included Mark Nisbet in 2021 and Steve Scheel in 2020.
Solberg's career in the banking industry has spanned decades, a news release from the Chamber detailed.
From 1968 to 1982, Solberg worked for First National Bank in Grand Forks as well as Citizens State Bank in his native Finley, N.D. Solberg climbed to the role of CEO for Citizens State Bank in 1979.

In 1982, Solberg was named president and CEO of what was then State Bank of Fargo. Throughout Solberg's tenure with Bell Bank, the company expanded from one location in Fargo to several across North Dakota and Minnesota.
Michael Solberg, Richard's son, became the president of Bell Bank in 2009 and CEO in 2014.
In addition to his time on Bell Bank's board, Richard Solberg has held positions with the Fargo-Moorhead Economic Development Corporation as well as the Concordia College Board of Regents. Solberg has recevied the Alumni Achievement Award, President’s Award, Regents Award and Mission Medallion from Concordia.
