      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

A campy, trashy nighttime soap, Revenge is pretty contrived stuff, but it's thoroughly entertaining, thanks to twisty plotting, strong visuals, and a host of interesting characters.

Stephanie S Pretty good, with lots of twists and turns Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/01/24 Full Review Angela G I loved this show. Wonderfully casted and written. Only thing I disliked is that it ended because I loved it. Edge of your seat, suspenseful and such interesting character development. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Martin A. - The Count of Monte Cristo in modern TV form. Let's start off with what I didn't enjoy. Nolan Ross seems to be a Dues Ex Machina, seems fitting for a character that owes his success to technology. Emily Thorne looks super human off camera, but this is explained away by having ninja training, so, we are basically watching a female batman drama and it's glorious. What I loved. I loved seeing Amanda Clark take down an entire party. Each episode is chalk full of suspense, thrills and take downs. I loved every character, my favorite being Conrad Grayson (unexpectedly). All Actors brought their characters to life and the writing is exceptionally consistent. Every role, no matter how small brought impact and consequence. This series does not pull its punches and I loved every minute of it! Don't pass this up for it's one of the best pieces of writing I've ever seen on television, and I can't wait to see what Mike Kelley does next. "While seeking revenge, dig two graves - one for yourself." 9 out of 10. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Gosto da primeira temporada Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member From ABC comes the exciting and thrilling series Revenge. Season 1 follows a New York socialite named Emily Thorne who moves to the Hamptons and begins courting the son of the prestigious Grayson family; but Emily is really Amanda Clark, who has come to get revenge against the Graysons and their friends who orchestrated a conspiracy that framed her father for a terrorist attack, leading to his imprisonment and murder. Madeleine Stowe and Emily VanCamp lead the cast and give incredibly strong performances. And the writers do an excellent job at creating mystery and suspense as Emily's revenge plot unfolds and the Grayson conspiracy is revealed. Still, it has some clichéd and cheesy romantic subplots and gets a bit soap opera-ish at times; which is also what makes to the show so engrossing. Revenge delivers an intense and riveting first season that's full of intrigue and promises even darker and more tantalizing conspiracies to come. Whether it can sustain the intrigue for a full season and beyond is a question almost as interesting as the show itself.
