Nicolas Dominguez and Remo Freuler react as £18m-rated Nottingham Forest linked star suffers devastating blow - Nottingham Forest News

A Nottingham Forest transfer target has suffered a devastating injury blow this week, with Nicolas Dominguez and Remo Freuler both reacting to the news.

The summer transfer window will see a number of players sign for Forest – and many others depart the City Ground.

Regardless of what division Forest find themselves in next season, it’s fair to presume that the club will once again be a hotbed of activity.

One area that Forest will look to sign players is in central midfield and one player who has been linked with a move to the club is Lewis Ferguson.

The Scotland international is currently playing for Serie A high-flyers Bologna and it’s thought that he’s valued at around £18 million.

Now, he’s been dealt an awful injury blow and it’s not good news for Bologna, Scotland or any potential suitors – including Forest.

Injury update on Nottingham Forest target Lewis Ferguson

Well, it’s not good news for Ferguson who has now taken to Instagram to confirm the worst-case scenario.

Ferguson has captained Bologna since the turn of the year but on Saturday he was forced out of the 0-0 draw in the 62nd minute.

After the game, he implied that he might be okay, but now he’s delivered heartbreaking confirmation on Instagram.

He said: “Devastated with today’s news but that’s life. I will do everything to come back better and stronger than before. Thank you all for the support. See you soon.”

Ferguson received some support from some players with Forest links with current midfielder Dominguez posting: “Forza.”

The Argentine came to Forest in a swap deal with Freuler and the Switzerland international also reacted, saying: “Come on.”

Forest will likely move on from transfer target

This is sickening for the player with Euro 2024 now out of the question for Ferguson after Scotland qualified for the tournament.

It’s not clear at this stage how long he will be sidelined, but with an ACL injury, it looks unlikely he will play again this year.

Forest will have to move on from Ferguson when it comes to the transfer window.

The Reds have had enough rotten luck with injuries, without adding the risk of signing a player who will be coming back from a big one.

Ferguson is only 24 and at £18 million he would have represented a bit of a steal for Forest.

However, in the short term, Forest are going to have to look elsewhere and it will be fascinating to see what other midfielders are on the shortlist.
