ST JOHNSTONE have made a double signing with the addition of defender Alex Mitchell and goalkeeper Remi Matthews.

Herald Sport told yesterday how the Perth Saints were set to add Matthews on loan from Crystal Palace as their new No1.

Mitchell, joins on loan from Millwall, where Davidson was assistant manager before moving back to Perth two years ago.

The 20-year-old, signed for the Championship side in 2018, before progressing through the academy system, impressing in the U18’s and U23 squads.

The Englishman has previously been on loan to non-league side Bromley where he made 11 appearances. During last season’s campaign, he made 30 appearances for Leyton Orient during his loan spell at the O’s.

Mathews, 28, started his career when he signed for Norwich City in 2014 and was loaned out several times. His most notable spells were at Hamilton Academical, Plymouth Argyle and Bolton Wanderers. Making over 95 appearances combined. 

Mathews signed for Crystal Palace in the summer of July 2021. 

Both players will be available for the start of the 22/23 league campaign against Hibs.
