Great little zoo....just the right size to visit with young children and still see LOTS of animals. For us, and for our 18-month old grandson, the highlight of the visit was seeing the elephants up close! He also enjoyed the meerkat exhibit because those animals were highly active and came close to the window so children could see them easily! Went on "Three Dollar Tuesday" which made the visit a real bargain!!!

    Nice, Small Zoo
We were fortunate to get free zoo passes from the Tempe Library. Nice perk. It’s a rather nice zoo. they have tried to create natural habitats for the various animals they have. It's a rather modest zoo. Mostly mammals. We were able to tour it in a couple hours. It had some surprises – big anteater and big Capybara. We enjoyed seeing the usual, elephants, rhino, zebra, giraffe. Nice way to spend a morning

    Amazing little zoo.
This is a wonderful family atmosphere, and welcoming zoo. The animals were beautiful and so calm ( none of them were pacing around or going in circles ). The exhibits were very clean even during feeding time. Thanks to all the hard workers that care for the critters and grounds. We will be back.

Great place to visit with young kids
Great mid-size zoo. Very clean, good variety of interesting animals, easily walkable, great areas for younger kids. Good place to kill a couple hours. Would recommend getting there earlyish as it got more crowded around 12-1PM

    Lovely Zoo
Nice Zoo that is reasonably priced to get in. Get there early as the crowds arrive by 11. Several animals at this Zoo ,was happy to see Flamingos. Easy process to rent motorized Scooters for anyone with Mobility issues.

Three. Great things about the Reid Park zoo.
Three things I liked about the Reid Park zoo. One, being greeted by flamingos upon entry. They are so beautiful and fun to watch. Two, I like that the zoo is small enough to see in a few hours. There are tons of animals, really good educational materials at each enclosure, but it’s not overwhelming. Three, It has one of the best aviaries I’ve ever been in. So many birds walking and flying around. If you sit on the bench and observe them, birds will walk right by you. You get to see the color of their feathers close up.

    Lovely Zoo
We spent about 2 hours enjoying the Zoo. Parking is very easy and free. The Zoo is pretty compact and the trails are easy to follow. There is a good assortment of animals to see. You can get pretty close up to many of the enclosures. The spaces are pretty good for most of the larger animals, I felt like some of the smaller animals would appreciate larger enclosures. The Zoo is clean and very reasonably priced. It is reciprocal with many out of state Zoos, so you can enter at a reduced rate. It's a great place for adults and children alike.

Lots of neat animals, clean and peaceful! 5 stars!
We visited one morning in April, and had a blast seeing all of the animals. It’s not a huge zoo, but it has nice wide walking paths, very clean, plus all of the cool animals. Lion, jaguar, bears, elephants, and so much more! They all looked healthy and well fed. It’s a great place to get some exercise and see the sights! The gift shop is expansive, lots of cute items. Even better, it was only $21 for the two of us! What a deal! We highly recommend!

It takes 4 hours to drive to Tucson from our home, but we have been to the Reid Park Zoo several times. We enjoy it much more than the Phoenix Zoo. The prices are much better. The animals are esier to see. It takes the right amount of time to see the entire zoo. The kids were not worn out 1/4 of the way through (like bigger zoos) They got tired right about the time we had seen everything.

This was the most beautiful display of lights throughout the zoo that I've ever experienced at any zoo. Animals of all kinds (many fantasy animals/characters) and the colors were spectacular. Great to be able to enter the zoo at 6pm while it is still somewhat light and you can still see some of the zoo animals that come out in the cooler evening weather. Then, as it got dark, the lighted figurines all over the zoo were just gorgeous! There was also a demonstration in the park area of balance and acrobatics and another Chinese performance. All in all, well worth the price of admission. Give yourself at least 2 hrs.

This zoo appears to be well cared for. All the animals looked healthy and alert. The Chinese Lantern Festival exhibits were on display with many realistically looking animals shown in family groups. As we arrived in the morning many zoo animals were alert and walking around, which definitely made the visit more interesting. All the paths were paved.

Colorful lanterns, many of them life-size depictions of animals, are lighted along the walkways of the zoo. Mixed with colorful strings of lights, it’s an absolutely beautiful and unique experience. The walkways are paved and wide, with plenty of benches to rest and enjoy the view. There are activities for children, and a stage for entertainment. We watched a really good acrobatic performance. It was all well organized, and there is a large parking area available so no need to find parking on the street. I highly recommend it.

As a member of 2 UK zoos and a visitor of many other zoos both in UK and USA we visited Reid Park today and were extremely disappointed. We had visited this zoo in the past and enjoyed the experience. Whilst the admission price is low, today a big park of the zoo was shut off, namely the the South American loop. Also another section closed for a private event which appeared to be for members only for something new opening at the weekend. Surely with such a large section closed this could have been open to everyone. In addition a viewing area of the lions was covered for a Halloween display, limiting lion viewing too. I doubt we will return again when visiting the area

This is a smaller zoo but it has a wonderful variety of animals, including giraffes, rhino, elephants and giant anteater. The animal enclosures are well suited to meet animal needs as well as providing visitors with excellent views. The zoo is well laid out so visitors get around easily. One of our favourite visits in Tucson.

This zoo is located inside Tucson and is fairly small. However, the exhibits are well done, and the animals appear well-cared for and most were engaged in their environments. I saw many keepers tending to them during my visit. Easy to get to on the city bus, and an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours. Closes early in summer - go in the morning if possible.

This is a great option to spend a few hours in Tucson. It's a compact zoo, but very well maintained. All animals appeared to be well cared for. Around 1:00 PM they feed the elephants, and an employee gives some commentary about the resident elephant family and some behaviors of elephants. When we were there, they spread out things like pumpkins, lettuce, and other stuff in the elephant enclosure, and let out a mom and kid elephant to feed on them. The way the little elephant was excitedly running to the food, and the sloppy way in which it was trying to feed, was just adorable.

They also have a few animals that you rarely find in a zoo, such as African wild dog, giant anteater, and the sun bear. And the admission is very fairly priced.

We visited this Zoo on a whim and boy are we glad we did. Our grandchildren 5 and 6 years old, LOVED the many near extinction animals that the Phoenix Zoo does not have. Much of the zoo is shaded which is a welcome, when temperature is 90. Almost all of the walkways are cement some with leaf imprints. The volunteers provide helpful information. Well worth your time to visit. Never too old to visit the zoo. This zoo seemed had more active animals in living areas, than the Phoenix Zoo has many living areas empty.

This was a clean, attractive zoo with lots of activities for small kids. Admission price was reasonable. It is a relatively small zoo, but the animals have large enclosures with enrichment and appear to be well cared for. Food was expensive but the pretzels were very good. It would have been nice to have a map to carry with us, but there is a map posted near the entrance. It was a pleasant way to spend an hour or two.
