A Michigan voter registration form can be used by residents to vote in upcoming elections. The completed form must be submitted to the city or township clerk at least thirty (30) days in advance of the election day (if a citizen is not registering online). A residential address is required in order to complete the registration process; if the resident has no numerical address, they will need to at least provide a description of their location. To be eligible to register, residents must be at least 18 years of age (on election day), be a US citizen, and not be serving a jail or prison sentence. Once registered, individuals will be required to present a valid photo ID when they go to the polling station to vote.

Voter ID (§168.523) – In order to vote, Michigan voters must present one of the following accepted types of photo ID:

  • U.S. passport
  • Military ID with photo
  • Student identification with photo
  • Tribal identification card with photo
