Kashiwa Daisuke - Program Music I. Really, I'm recommending "Stella" off this album, but it's got two songs and they're both good. It's just Stella is among my favorites.

I listen to a lot of instrumental music. Herewith, some I really like; stars mark my absolute faves.

Movie & TV Soundtracks/Scores:
* Constantine (the 2005) movie (Brian Tyler, Klaus Badelt)
- Defiance (Bear McCreary)
- The Social Network (Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross)

Video Game Soundtracks/Scores:
* Mass Effect (Jack Wall)
* Myst 3 Exile (Jack Wall)
* Anthem (Sarah Schachner)
- Payday 2 (Simon Viklund)
- The Division (Ola Strandh)
- Warframe (Digital Extremes)

Other Soundtracks/Scores:
* Eclipse Phase: Infinite & Indivisible (Scott Fox)

Popular Music:
* deadmau5 - while(1<2) (need to filter out a couple of tracks with vocals but the rest are A+ instrumentals)
* Too Many Zooz - pretty much everything, but especially their first release F NOTE.
- Juno Reactor - everything from Transmissions to Shango is brilliant; their newer stuff (Gods & Monsters onwards) is also good but very soundtrack-y. Some tracks do have vocals though.

Jazz:
* Suite for Flute & Jazz Piano, Claude Bolling (particularly the original recording with Jean-Pierre Rampal, not the versions with Jeanne Baxtresser or Yo-Yo Ma)

Classical:
* Sinfonietta, Janacek
- Taras Bulba, Janacek
- Polovtsian Dances, Borodin
- Concierto De Aranjuez, Rodrigo

I’ll also recommend Bear McCreary, specifically his nBSG soundtracks. His music was a big part of what made the show distinctive and I definitely encourage people to check it out. (His wife Raya Yarbrough did great work with the vocals on a few tracks as well.)

Symphonic Pink Floyd. It's basically a collection of the Pink Floyd hits, done with a symphony.

Since we're going with another round of suggestions, I'll add 2 more.

Talking Hands: Deborah Henson-Conant
Jazz Harp
This is one of the two CDs where I've had people go up to the stereo to see who's playing. The other is Time Machine by Joe Satriana. I recommended another of his albums upthread.

Composer's Holiday: Les Brown and his Band of Renown
Les Brown asked some composers to write whatever they want, and he'd play it. Notably "Tropics at 5" has a 5/4 beat, and "Lament for a Key" has no key signature, and drifts between different keys.
