'I'm missing my wife and daughters': Ray Winstone, 63, has been stranded in Italy for nine weeks without family due to coronavirus and says he's 'gagging for a pint'

Actor Ray Winstone has been stranded in Italy for nine weeks without his family due to the coronavirus.

The 63-year-old travelled to Sicily for a break before filming started in Italy on a short film he was making, but he got locked down on March 9. 

He said he is missing his wife and daughters and is 'gagging for a pint.'

Ray had been talking on a West Ham podcast when he shared the news of his plight, saying he had travelled ahead of the rest of the cast and crew. 

According to The Sun, is thought to be staying at a home he bought for £44,000 in 2013 and then renovated for £1.1million. 

He said: 'I was here a few days before the crew were due to arrive. That’s where it went a bit pear-shaped.

'It’s difficult not speaking the language. You’ve just got to be brave and crack on.'

Ray is missing his wife Elaine, as well as daughters, Lois, 38, Jaime, 35, and Ellie Rae, 19.

Despite his plight, he has been spending his time trying to help others in need and has filmed a Crowdfunder appeal for victims of coronavirus. 

He also asked that frontline workers should be added to the Queen' Honours list, saying: 'The NHS has gone above and beyond.' 

He's also been getting involved in a campaign to help hungry children.

The show started after an Barrie met a local caretaker, who told him that as well as feeding the key worker’s children who were at school, he was also trying to feed other local children because they were starving.
