Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News An effective little creeper for those who swoon over Gothic-looking fright flicks. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 21, 2022 Full Review Lee Zumpe Tampa Bay Newspapers The biggest issue though is the fact that Moseley is outright distracting as Poe. He’s a square peg and Hatton is trying to mash him into a round hole. Oct 26, 2023 Full Review Sharai Bohannon Dread Central Raven’s Hollow never really believes in itself, which is frustrating for a viewer. It’s a waste of an okay idea and some cool gothic vibes. Rated: 2.5/5 Oct 26, 2022 Full Review Joey Keogh Wicked Horror Without any prior understanding of Edgar Allan Poe's work, you might get less out of Raven’s Hollow on an intellectual basis, but the movie is an entertaining and spooky slice of supernatural horror in its own right, too. Oct 10, 2022 Full Review Marie Asner Phantom Tollbooth [Raven's Hollow] brings depth to the character of Edgar Allen Poe as a young man. Rated: 3/5 Sep 30, 2022 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film It’s hard to imagine that [Poe] would have been anything other that appalled by this shoddy exercise in pilfering the most superficial aspects of his work. Dallas H As a supernatural horror movie, I liked Raven's Hollow. However, trying to connect this movie to Edgar Allen Poe and his poem The Raven seems like a disingenuous attempt at storytelling. If they were to remove those paltry connections to literary history, I would have enjoyed the movie even more as a standalone story. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/13/24 Full Review Logan D In the early 1800s, Poe is a cadet at West Point and is honor bound to investigate the death of a man near Raven's Hollow. Lots of fan service here in nods to Poe works. It's an average film with two things elevating it: Kate Dickie, love her; a wonderfully designed creature. A gothic near-popcorn flick. A stronger lead would have been nice. Trivia: Poe did attend West Point but failed. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/04/23 Full Review Les N I am not watching this sort of movie again. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/04/23 Full Review Avindu G Raven's Hollow could be one of most imaginative adaptations from literature recently. Similar to Lincoln the Vampire Hunter the premise is intriguing. A clever portrayal of colliding cultures, reluctance to change and chaos that follows. The Raven's hatchling being stranded by Poe is a clever expression of human relationships. With regards to the visuals the colour tones are perfect and special effects are satisfying too. Great use of background audio which is unique and fitting well. Brilliant performances by the cast to keep up with sudden shifts kf the plot. Raven's Hollow surely has a good amount of shudder in store. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/09/23 Full Review Hugo S An intriguing gothic tale based on Allan Poe's literature. "Raven's Hollow" explores a secretive small community terrorized by an evil creature (the raven). Great performances and a captivating atmosphere! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Jerod S Raven's Hollow takes Poe and puts him back as a cadet in old school new york where people keep dying. Has a M. Night feel of mystery - but unfortunately when the raven appears it takes on a TV feel. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
