Dessers double for Rangers sees of Hearts - reaction

Double goalscorer Cyriel Dessers says Rangers are the best team in the league, as long as they can find their rhythm again.

"I'm really happy with the goals," the striker tells BBC Scotland. "That was a beautiful day to do that in front our fans at Hampden, that was special.

"Today I could have played better. When you score two goals in a semi-final, you have to be happy with that, but we want more.

"We have six more games and everything to play for. It's a new league starting next weekend and we know what we have to do to win the title. Hopefully we can execute that on the pitch.

"The pressure is rising after the week we had. To do it in the big moments today against a good team, I think we be happy with the performance and result. We can look with confidence to the next games.

"I want more goals, I want more wins, and hopefully, more trophies as well.

"If you look at the last months, we showed what we're capable of. It's just the thing to find this vibe back. If we can find that rhythm back, I think we're the best team in the league."

Rangers were coming here today with lots of questions gets asked of Philippe Clement and the team.

They've played pretty well against the third best team in the country. It could have been more.

Hearts have troubled the other side at Glasgow at times this season. Clement will be delighted with the way his team showed up today.

It'll be interesting to see if Connor Goldson comes back in. Definitely not for Leon Balogun, after today.

Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers tells Premier Sports: "Delighted to go to a final with Rangers, it feels amazing. It will be a beautiful final, the Old Firm - hopefully we can give our season a wonderful end.

"It was a weird game, but we got the job done. The first goal came at a good moment. To score at that time gives us a big advantage for the rest of the game.

"When it's only 1-0, one free-kick or corner could always happen. We gave ourselves more breathing space at 2-0.

"Last week was not easy, personally. Today was not my best game, not at all. But look at the fans, the stadium, these are the games you want to play as a player.

"But we want more, we stay hungry."

"It's a very important thing because we had two knocks this week," he tells BBC Scotland.

"Ross County I was totally not pleased about. Dundee I think we missed some luck, on a normal surface you have another kind of game. Like you see today, we play a better game.

"We are in a title chase, we are in a cup final, and we are really hungry for more trophies.

"I think everyone in Scotland will be really excited about that, that there's a challenge for trophies.

"I only look at the next game. It's been a really difficult season with all the injuries. There are players coming back and raising their level.

On Abdallah Sima, who was substituted early in the first half, he adds: "If you take a player off that early, it's because of an injury. We'll see this week how serious it is. I hope it's nothing too bad."

Philippe Clement says Cyriel Dessers is in the form of his career after scoring a double to send Rangers to the Scottish Cup final.

"He gained his freshness by not playing all the game against Dundee," the Rangers manager tells BBC Scotland.

"Cyriel has played a lot of minutes. He made a really big impact, the rest of the team also.

"These last six months have been the best six months of Cyriel's career, and we'll keep pushing him on.

"He's honest, he works really hard for the team. He's scoring a lot of goals. Can he make more goals? Yes.

"But I don't know any striker in the world who scores all their chances."

Hearts manager Steven Naismith tells BBC Scotland: "It's really frustrating. Got off to a terrible start. It's not good enough. From that moment to the second goal, we played a lot of goof stuff, created a lot of good chances.

"Then, it's another moment that takes the tie away from you when we had a chance of putting them under a lot of pressure. On the day we gave up poor goals. You could tell our immaturity in the final third, the decision making, the three, four, five good situations we were in, we never made the right choice. That's the part that let us down today.

"It'll come with experience. From the summer until now, we've come a long way. We've changed the way we play, we do a lot differently and we've made good progress.

"That calmness comes. Today wasn't our day to have it but we'll learn from it. We're a young squad, we've done loads of good stuff. These moments hurt because we feel it's a missed opportunity.

"We can be really frustrated but the bigger picture is we've made big strides. We came up against one of the best teams in the league, played good football to break them down and make opportunities. Then it's decision making, that's the biggest thing that cost us today."

I don't think you can argue the best team won. Rangers created more clear-cut chances.

They got the early goal they wanted to give them that lift, and pretty much controlled the first half. Hearts didn't really work Jack Butland and never created that opportunity.

Second half they changed it. They carried a greater threat with Kenneth Vargas through the middle.

But Todd Cantwell kept getting in that pocket of space and he changed the game.
