- The4Gs2014East Lyme, CT135 contributionsWe have toured many historical houses over the years and have enjoyed them but thought the house tour of Sunnylands was the best of them all. The house tour must be booked in advance but is well worth the effort. Our tour guide, Dan, gave our group a quick introduction, and then we were off by golf cart from the visitor's center to an amazing house. Not only is the mid-century modern architecture just fantastic, the Annenbergs collected all kinds of art and decorative objects just for this house. They selected every item and every bit of decor to be exactly how they wanted it, and the results are striking. They also surrounded the house with magnificent gardens, pools, and recreational activities for their guests (Presidents, royalty, celebrities) to enjoy. Their foundation now hosts retreats on contemporary world affairs topics of all types -- the stories are great. We could have spent hours in just the "memorabilia room" alone. The museum is highly interactive and does a great job of offering activities/exhibits that are geared to younger children as well as kids who are closer to 8 to 10. - Gerry HNorfolk, VA332 contributionsThe hotel/casino were very nice, clean with free parking in a 4 level car garage. I liked the food court area with quick order and tables to relax and eat. Box office for concerts was very cordial and prompt with transactions.
The doors opened 1 hour before show time, security check was simple and the staff (as you enter the concert venue) were very controlling insisting you must not have the intelligence to find your own seat.
The show started about 5 minutes late with little pomp and Pat Benatar immediately started singing her hits. Her vocals were good but not as strong as they use to be. She remained centered stage walking back and forth to the drum set with her back to the audience a majority of the time.
It seemed as though she was filming for a show and needed to stay in the frame. There was no movement towards the audience on the sides. She was very connected to her husband and very disconnected to the other two band members. The stage is very deep and the drummer was set way in the back. Benatar was cordial but rushed thru the songs and left the stage after an hour 8 mins for an encore.
She announced they were towards the end of the concert tour and it seemed like they were ready to go home. She was going thru the motions and cared very little about connecting with the audience.
Her husband excelled on the guitar but it was like watching someone on TV. Both were showing serious aging on their necks and faces. I commend them for touring at 70 years old but they should break up the touring schedule with breaks in between. There is a paved path that appears wheelchair compatible. Throughout the park are signs with advice and inspiration. There were flowers and beautiful Palm trees.
I liked the cacti as well.
There was a shelter.
People play basketball. They had fun.
The smaller children had a playground.

Beautiful views of surrounding mountains. The short Braille Trail is equipped with pedestal audio stations with recorded audio messages from celebrities such as Frank Sinatra and Dinah Shore (near the park entrance). - Tina2shoesSouth Jordan, Utah56 contributionsTrailhead is accessed via the upper parking at Ranch Mirage City Hall (68992 Frank Sinatra Drive). Dogs welcome. A few short switchbacks and you're above the city with beautiful views. There is a bench and a covered picnic area at the top (I regret I did not get a photo of that). Come back down the same way or instead (I recommend) go down the opposite side which is part of the Jackrabbit Trail. Once down, you walk along the road a short bit (it's a wide flat dirt area, no worries) and you end up at the Bloch Cancer Survivor's Park, which his a treat in itself. Continue thru that and you're back at City Hall. This loop is 1 mile at the most.
