The other redditor should be disregarded. They are known for: certain fields of (astro)physics, linguistics, sociology and medicine/biomedical sciences. If in the direction of economy, they are quite good at macro-economic stuff with a sociological bent. But the other ones are where radboud has most credentials.

Mpi for psycholinguistics is in Radboud. Radboud is great for anything brain related - whether that would be cognitive science or AI.

Radboud is a good, general university. It is not in the Randstad, which counts as a plus to me. Radboud may be one of the youngest unis, Nijmegen is among the oldest cities in the Netherlands. If you like classical languages, archeology, history and religion, Nijmegen is a good choice. It is also a very nice, gezellig city.

I decided to study Greek and Latin in Groningen, but I seriously considered Nijmegen at the time (and Leiden, but both were a 3 hour journey. I was kind of young and not ready to leave home yet)

BA in poshness is very popular i heard

Are you confusing Radboud with Nyenrode? There's nothing posh about Nijmegen.

Could you please share more?

It's a classic broad research university which draws a lot of students from the East and South of the Netherlands (and from Germany). I am from the West of the Netherlands myself but I studied in Nijmegen, and I am used to the weird comments from people in the West who for some reason genuinely don't understand that it's not that different from studying in Leiden, Amsterdam or Rotterdam etc.

I studied Law in Nijmegen and the reason I chose it over staying closer to home is because I liked the curriculum and they basically delivered what they promised. It's a smaller uni and I liked the personal touch and emphasis on high quality lectures (well... mostly, there will always be a few duds) combined with practical seminars.

I've seen your other comments, I genuinely can't comment on how good they'd be for anything Finance or Business related. A friend of mine specifically chose Rotterdam for their Economics/Business courses and really enjoyed it.

Rotteedam requires high math proficiency, for which i believe I just don’t have time, or else, money to live in rotterdam :D

You mean basically useless and with no strengths and specifications in a particular area, not including the spoiled environment

so what i think, I also went to a private university, is that they are probably good in general in every subject.

What makes these institutions strong in my opinion are the connections and network you can make there. Is it very useful and does it make a big difference to other unis? No not really tbh, I would prefer going to Leiden, or rotterdam or whatever that is just same quality in essence.

Leiden is SO MUCH more posh than Nijmegen wtf

Thanks for sharing lad. Im looking more for a finance field. I applied to tilburg for entrepreneurship and other program IBA and I am also looking forward to applying to groningen for economics bachelor. Morevoer, I got accepted to radboud BA, but i am thinking to decline in, because i feel like i should apply for something better than radboud BA instead, perhaps maastrich? What do you say/recommend

u/Psychological_Town84 avatar

I also study at Tilburg currently (Masters in Data Science) and the school is nice in general. What I recommend is where you think you are most excited for, even if you a little more excited for that program/city, do that. In general, every university what you mentioned is very good. After your first/overall employment in the field you have studied in, will be the most relevant for the rest of your career anyways.

Studying does not give you the actual required experience, but just an introduction of your field.

Radboud is good in humanics

Exactly that i witnessed when seeing tons of humanic programmes. But how to know if its worth a try for Ba

Depends on your interests.

Choosing a bachelors is harder than running for a president in ghana ffs

Computing Science, specially in Cybersecurity and Cryptography! The Radboud institute of Computing and Information Sciences(iCIS) has very strong research teams and interesting projects with well known people in the field like Johan Daemen.
