Eye C A performances delight, with a simple but powerful story, this family drama shows us the sorrow and the joy around a celebration. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/29/24 Full Review Colin M Drama around a family wedding. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/24 Full Review Jeff M One of the best dysfunctional family movies ever and easily Anne Hathaway's best performance. Demme makes the unusual but ultimately affecting decision to let scenes run much longer than normal, allowing us to share the discomfort and claustrophobia of what the characters often feel. This is sincere, truthful, unapologetic filmmaking, sometimes almost uncomfortable to watch. Hathaway and Debra Winger, as her mother, have one particular scene of startling intensity and truth telling that is truly electrifying. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/24 Full Review Dallas H I would easily comprehend anyone who informs me they could not watch this film because it may hit the ball too close to home. Substance abuse is a problem that has infiltrated the lives of a lot of American families. Watching a film like Rachel Getting Married may only serve as a reminder of the harsh reality we face in our real lives. The movie takes place over one weekend in which Kym leaves the rehabilitation center to visit her father's house for her sister's wedding. Her family is cautious about Kym's progress as a recovering addict. Will she fit in well with the wedding guests, or will she be an outcast who draws selfishly needed attention upon herself? Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Anne Hathaway is phenomenal in this movie! The movie plays out like a family drama, yet there is depth and hilarity to it as well. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/26/23 Full Review Thomas M The best acting performance from Rosemarie DeWitt! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/26/22 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Rated: 3.5/5 Feb 20, 2009 Full Review Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald Hathaway's performance has been deservedly nominated for an Oscar. Whether or not she wins, here's hoping the associated kudos saves her from ever having to do another Bride Wars. Rated: 4/5 Feb 13, 2009 Full Review Danielle Solzman Solzy at the Movies Rachel Getting Married features a stunning Anne Hathaway performance and manages to stand out from the crowd because of the decision to film it as a home video. Rated: 4.5/5 Feb 1, 2024 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review The film may upset some viewers, particularly those with family not in the habit of communicating. For the rest of us, engrossed in the event’s highs and lows, we revel in Demme’s capable hands and the pathos of his ceremony.
