Artist bios

Canadian composer Christophe Beck has written music for both film and television. He debuted to acclaim in 1998, winning an Emmy for his work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Beck has composed the scores for such high-profile films as Disney's Frozen, Pitch Perfect, The Muppets Most Wanted, and Wandavision, as well as all three Marvel Ant-Man films, including 2023's 2023's Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Beck was born in 1972 in Montreal, Quebec where he started on piano around age five. By his teens, he was teaching himself how to play pop tunes and had formed his own band. He attended Toronto's Crescent School where, along with piano, he played saxophone and drums. After high school, he further honed his craft at Yale University. While there, he and his brother composed several musicals, as well as an opera based on the Edgar Allan Poe short story "The Tell-Tale Heart." Following his time at Yale, he entered USC's Thornton School of Music film scoring program, where he studied with Jerry Goldsmith. Basing himself in Los Angeles, Beck found work composing for such shows as Law & Order and NYPD Blue. He won an Emmy in 1998 for his work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and has contributed music for a bevy of television and film productions, including Angel, Garfield, Elektra, Pitch Perfect, The Peanuts Movie, American Made, Trolls, and more.

Beck has also composed the scores to several Disney productions, including 2011's The Muppets Most Wanted, the award-winning 2012 short film Paperman, 2013's Frozen, and its sequel, 2019's Frozen 2. He has scored several Marvel productions, including the Disneyplus WandaVision and Hawkeye shows, as well as 2015's Ant Man, 2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp, and 2023's Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. He also scored 2021's Free Guy and 2023's Shazam! Fury of the Gods. ~ Matt Collar
