The 42 mile scenic loop is an easy drive and a stress-free way to see Grand Teton NP. If you want to see breathtaking scenery without going on hikes, this drive is for you. The drive can probably be done in 1 to 2 hours, depending on the number of stops you make. It took us about 2-1/2 hours which included the drive to and from our hotel in downtown Jackson and an additional drive around Jenny Lake. Just a short drive off the Teton Loop you will want to visit just for the beauty of this farming community and for the spectacular views and photo ops. There are places to park your car so you can walk up and down the road. There is also one public bathroom on site. We are glad we stopped, spending 30-45 minutes at this location.

The John D. Rockefeller Jr. Memorial Hwy, is also known as the Grand Teton Scenic Drive, the Outer Loop Road, and as US Highways 26, 89, and 191. It is the main road through the Grand Teton National Park and is open year-round. Commercial vehicles will use this route to supply the communities along it, in and outside the Park. It is free to drive on it, as long as one does not enter any of the main park attractions. There will park usage fees at those locations. Park visitors may buy a national park pass ahead of time or pay once at the entrance to the main attractions and get a window sticker, which is good for seven days.
The highway itself is in very good condition considering its volume of traffic.
Restrooms and picnic areas are generally not on the highway, since entrance fees help pay for their upkeep. Overlooks are exempt.

This stop is a must see if you are in the Grand Teton National Park. There was plenty of parking when we arrived late afternoon. The views are spectacular and there are plenty of photo opportunities.

The mountains were wonderful...but to me this was about the wildflower fields up against them.
Teton Point Turnout was also where we saw our only moose. She loved that sagebrush.

If you are traveling the Teton Loop, this is a must see. It is a beautiful church that sits right on the lake. It was also not busy during the middle of the day. Great place to get out and stretch your legs, and there are public restrooms on site.

Our first look at the Snake River, was where it flows out from the Palisades Reservoir. Its 1,078-miles long and begins somewhere in Wyoming south of Yellowstone Lake. It has the deepest gorge in North America, called Hells Canyon. We saw it again at Taco Hole, a kayaker’s drop-in place, and then just past the bend where Ansel Adam’s took his historic photo in 1942.
Driving along it was a pleasure.
The river is swift and cold; swimming anywhere in is not recommended. We are not kayakers, so we let someone else do the river running.
But it was when we took we took a cruise on it and got down at the water’s level, we really learned about it.

Beautiful drive that runs from Moose to near Teton Village. Unfortunately part of the road was closed for construction. We saw a grizzly bear from a distance and the road is known for wildlife viewing.

From this viewpoint, there is usually a great view of the Teton Range unobstructed by anything except clouds. It's a big view over the Snake River Valley of glaciers on the highest peaks. Lower down, nearer the river is a mixed forest belt sheltering the river and providing cover for the occasional grazing moose or elk. Closer to the highway are sagebrush flats, as cover for smaller animals. We visited over two days as the first day, the view had a partial cloud bank sitting in front the mountains. It was still very impressive.

The Jenny Lake Visitor Center (9-5) is almost in the center of GTNP. It’s a very popular and busy place. The Visitor Center, which is just 2-miles from the overlook, and it's where you will find the restrooms. Jenny Lake is a favorite spot for hiking, (on the 7-mile Jenny Lake Loop Trail) and fishing, swimming, and boating, during the summer. Between November and May, there is no access to this place due to winter conditions.
There were big crowds at the Visitor Center to enjoy it with us. We did find a rare parking place and went and looked around, but we didn't stay long as it was still crowded. The line at the restroom was too long, so we went elsewhere for that. Entrance is free with the park pass.

Great place to stop on the Teton Loop. The church is very nice, and the scenery is spectacular. There was plenty of parking when we stopped around lunch time.
