A Question of Sport celebrated 50 years on TV in 2020. Now, in 2021, the show is waving goodbye to its long-time presenter Sue Barker. Sue presented A Question of Sport for 24 years and is reportedly being replaced by another female sporting star.
Why is Sue Barker leaving A Question of Sport?
Sue Barker has been presenting A Question of Sport over two decades now, but the TV host is leaving her role along with the show’s captains Phil Tufnell and Matt Dawson.
The much-loved trio, don’t look to be leaving their posts on the show due to any other reason than that the BBC would like to change the direction of the programme.
As per The Express, the sporting quiz show will be having a change up in 2021.

Who are the new A Question of Sport captains?
A Question of Sport series 50 episode 36 was the final episode that featured the regular trio on the show. Sue Barker, Matt Dawson and Phil Tufnell said goodbye to the show on May 28th, 2021.
Bidding farewell to the show, the host and captains were joined by guests Tim Henman, Dion Dublin, Michael Vaughan and Scott Quinnell.
Although the new A Question of Sport host has been announced, the BBC is yet to reveal who the new captains will be. As per RUCK in March 2021, no decision has been made yet in regard to new captains on the show.
RUCK and MailOnline have both speculated that a comedian could take one, or both, of the captains’ spots. Jack Whitehall, Mo Gilligan and Jon Richardson have all been mentioned as potential captains.
Who is the new host of A Question of Sport?
In all its 53 years on-screen, A Question of Sport has only ever had three presenters.
Now, reports suggest that Alex Scott MBE is replacing Sue Barker as the BBC show’s host. Alex is a former England football player. The 36-year-old is a pundit and TV presenter.
However, Alex took to Twitter on May 29th to state that she is not going to take over from Sue Barker: “…NO I am “NOT” taking over from Sue Barker on QOS, who I have also watched for many years and loved So on this lovely, fine Saturday, stop with the negative energy and keep it moving please…because I have no involvement in the situation…“
