The Academy Awards presented its coveted Oscar statuettes for achievements in film at the 96th Academy Awards from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood, Los Angeles on Sunday, March 10th.
Hollywood’s Big Night red carpet affair was attended by Margot Robbie, Martin Scorsese, Robert Downey Jr., Greta Gerwig, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Mark Ruffalo, Jodie Foster, Ava DuVernay, David Oyelowo, Christopher Nolan, Greta Lee, Billie Eilish, Rita Moreno, Justine Triet, Eva Longoria, Vanessa Hudgens, Fran Drescher, Wim Wenders, Hoyte van Hoytema, Celine Song, Diane Warren, and Members of the Osage Nation and many more.
Honored with individual awards were Cillian Murphy & Emma Stone in the Best Actor and Actress category with Robert Downey Jr. and Da’Vine Joy Randolph scooping in the Best Supporting category. The coveted Best Picture award for a motion picture was presented to Oppenheimer, with Best Director going to Christopher Nolan.

Hosted for the 4th time by Jimmy Kimmel, the presenters for the evening included Mahershala Ali, Nicolas Cage, Jamie Lee Curtis, Brendan Fraser, Jessica Lange, Matthew McConaughey, Lupita Nyong’o, Al Pacino, Michelle Pfeiffer, Ke Huy Quan, Sam Rockwell, Michelle Yeoh, Zendaya, Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, Dwayne Johnson, Michael Keaton, Regina King, Jennifer Lawrence, Kate McKinnon, Rita Moreno, John Mulaney, Catherine O’Hara, Octavia Spencer and Ramy Youssef.
The films competing for the coveted best picture were American Fiction; Anatomy of a Fall; Barbie; The Holdovers; Killers of the Flower Moon; Maestro; Oppenheimer; Past Lives; Poor Things and The Zone of Interest.
Leading the nominations were Oppenheimer (13 nominations), Poor Things (11 noms), Killers of the Flower Moon (10 noms) and Barbie (eight noms).
Ten individuals are first-time nominees in the acting categories, including Emily Blunt, Danielle Brooks, Sterling K. Brown, Colman Domingo, America Ferrera, Lily Gladstone, Sandra Hüller, Cillian Murphy, Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Jeffrey Wright.
Bradley Cooper becomes the fourth person to direct himself to an acting nomination for more than one film. Emma Stone became the second woman nominated for acting and Best Picture for the same film, following Frances McDormand, in Nomadland (2020).
