Good Afternoon /Evening,

We are a couple in our 70,s travelling from Scotland to Australia on the 19th April 23, we are staying at the Grace Hotel. Is Taronga Zoo easily accessible to do on our own or would we be better to book an excursion! My wife has COPD so don’t want to find ourselves with long queues and long walkable distances. I would appreciate, from the experts, there advise on this.

Thankyou in advance for any help given.

Booking an Excursion won't reduce the actual time inside the zoo. There are no tours that give priority entry for exhibits/attractions.

You won't have issues with long queues, provided you purchase your ticket online in advance. Just ask Dean McWhinney and he will organize that for you at The Grace.

In terms of accessibility, the typical duration of Taronga Zoo is about 3hrs give or take, should you choose to see every exhibit. There are escalators, cut throughs and elevators along the route, and there are employees you can ask for assistance.

As the Sky safari will no longer be operating when you visit, if you go by ferry, I suggest catching the bus up to the top entrance, and consider taking your visit first thing, starting at 09:30am

Great advice from KVE as always/

I was staying near the Grace Allier this month.

take the tram to Circular Quay, then the ferry to Taronga Wharf. When you get off the ferry there will be buses at the end of the wharf. get one of them to the Top entrance and work your way down.

If you have any steam left after the zoo visit, hop back n the bus to balmoral beach. its my favourite middle harbour beach/ Mostly flat walking, has public toilets and a range of places to eat. thee are benches too to gaze at the view.

Ah yes indeed it is.

Perhaps if they visit early, they can do the inbound on the 100 bus from behind their hotel (take the rear exit from the hotel lobby to Clarence St, then the bus stop is across the road to your left), directly to the top entrance, then on the way back, catch the ferry.
