Produktbeschreibungen
Japanese reissue. Pull is the fourth and final studio album by American pop rock band Mr. Mister, and the only album not to feature founding guitarist Steve Farris, who had departed the band in 1989. It was recorded from 1989 to 1990, but the record company refrained from releasing this more introspective album due to the band's being left without a record company and a subsequent breakup, the album was left without an official release until 2010.

To give a bit of context for the band, they formed in the early '80s, consisting of vocalist and bassist Richard Page, Keyboardist Steve George, drummer Pat Mastelotto, and guitarist Steve Farris. Their first album "I Wear the Face" (1984) had some decent tracks, including "Hunters of the Night", but they hadn't quite honed their craft and it suffers from first album syndrome in some areas. Needless to say, the album kinda flopped. After that didn't work, the Misters then proceeded to stop chasing trends and start writing and playing songs from the heart on their sophomore attempt, 1985's "Welcome to the Real World". It became a smash hit in early '86, reaching #1 briefly on the charts and spawning two #1 hit singles, "Broken Wings" and "Kyrie"; it also net them another top 10 hit in "Is It Love", and even a Grammy nomination. A very '80's masterpiece of new wave hard rock that's an essential listen to any fan of the era. Suddenly, Mr. Mister were the talk of the town, if only for a minute. Their third album, "Go On..." released after a two year hiatus in 1987, to surprisingly little fanfare. The album itself, while not quite on the level of Welcome to the Real World, had some pretty good tracks, and a minor hit in the form of "Something Real (Inside Me/Inside You)". But the disappointing commercial performance of the album had some repercussions. Steve Farris left the band after some tensions with Page, their record label (RCA) was bought out, and the new execs lost favor with Mr. Mister. Unphased, the three remaining Misters jumped back into the studio in 1990 and recorded "Pull", which was even more experimental than Go On... and that meant it would probably financially fare just as poorly. When the album was all but finished, they sent it in to their new record label, who didn't quite understand what made it tick, and it was never released. That is, until Mr. Mister gained something of a cult following, and two decades later, the album was miraculously pulled off the shelf and released independently by Page's own Little Dume Recordings in 2010, almost exactly two decades after it was shelved.
I can gladly say it was worth the wait.
The album opens with the epic one-two punch of "Learning to Crawl" and "Waiting in My Dreams", which are right up there with "Broken Wings" and "Kyrie" in my eyes, even if they aren't quite as mainstream - but the rest is nothing to scoff at either. Crazy Boy, Close Your Eyes, Lifetime, I Don't Know Why, We Belong to No One, No Words to Say, and Awaya are all fantastic; they don't have the bombastic energy that most other songs recorded at the time might have, but they each have an understated texture to them and can be real earworms all the same. My only real gripe with the album is that it isn't on Spotify with their other three albums for whatever reason!
If you love Mr. Mister, buy this album right away. You won't be disappointed, even if it isn't quite what you'd expect at times. If you don't know who Mr. Mister were, listen to Broken Wings, Kyrie, Is It Love, and hell, all of Welcome to the Real World and Go On... and then come back for Pull. You'll be glad you did.
