Personnel: John Lydon (vocals); Mark Saunders (guitar, keyboards). Audio Remixers: Danny Saber; Leftfield; Moby; The Chemical Brothers. Recording information: Rotten Studios, L.A.CA. Illustrator: John Lydon. Photographer: John Lydon. PSYCHO'S PATH, the first true solo album of John Lydon's career, finds the former Mr. Rotten on a techno kick, handling the lion's share of production and performance and even showing his vulnerable side. With his trademark nasal moan, Lydon provides a cold, detached journey through subjects ranging from human rights ("Grave Ride") to John Wayne Gacy ("Psychopath"), along with healthy doses of his trademark cynical tirades. Musically, there are more than a few echoes of Lydon's former band PIL, although the rhythm section on PSYCHO'S PATH is of a more electronic variety. The album includes celebrity mixes from such luminaries as The Chemical Brothers, Leftfield, and Moby. Their work helps to keep Lydon's rantings listenable, while providing a refreshing, modern take on one of post-punk's most consistently interesting personalities.
