- T SProvincetown, MA4 contributionsOne of the best experiences of being on the Cape- the oversand access to Race Point and Hatches Harbor. I haven't parked and walked onto the paid public section of beach in over a decade, so I can't say much on that. But as a pristine spot where you can set up with the family for the day, have a beach fire (with a permit) see the most amazing sunsets over the water on the east coast.... I can't imagine anyplace better.
My suggestions for enjoying this place to the fullest:
Go with a 4x4 vehicle, go to the NPS race point website before going. There's a list of requirements to get the permit such as a full size spare tire, a tire Guage that goes down to 5psi, a jack, tow strap etc. So make sure you check the website and know the requirements! They have weekly access passes for about 50 bucks between April and November. If you have a self contained camper, you can get a self contained vehicle sticker and camp right on the sand. Air your tires down, that is the number one requirement to getting out there once you have the permit from the ranger station/ permit office. I drive a Chevy 2500, and run my tires at 12psi on the sand. Low and slow. It's an experience to be had if you have the opportunity. - Sunshine6129502 contributionsAnother wonderful visit. We were in Ptown for an event and had a free day. From the parking lot head left down the beach for a 10-15 minutes walk. Soon enough you'll see people enjoying the sun all over their bodies. Stop, strip, and continue walking until you find a nice place to set up. Bring your drink of choice, food and enjoy the day.
We were a group of 3 couples so we only walked another 2-3 minutes after shedding our clothes.
A good time was had by all. The couple next to us even joined us for a few beach games when we needed 4 on 4. We mixed up the couples and the girls vs boys games were very competitive.
No need to put anything on if you go for walks continuing down the beach. My partner and I walked down to the lighthouse, we passed many other similar people and no one seemed to care.

You really cannot miss it as it dominates the town. Of course, I had to climb the tower - there were great views from the top. Many cities (and other organizations) provided plaques (and funds) for the tower and I photographed some of these on my climb up (or down).
The Pilgrim Monument in Provincetown, Massachusetts, was built between 1907 and 1910 to commemorate the first landfall of the Pilgrims in 1620 and the signing of the Mayflower Compact in Provincetown Harbor. This 252-foot-7+1⁄2-inch-tall (77.0 m) campanile is the tallest all-granite structure in the United States and is part of the Provincetown Historic District.

Second, there’s a boat in the upstairs! Third, free bathroom stop somewhat in the center of Provincetown. The visitor center is well worth seeing and a good spot to make the large loop around. Herring Cove is another good place to start but it's a ride to get to the main trail. You have to be cautious on this trail and don't go flying on down hills. This breakwater is the only way (other than by boat) to access Long Point. Two hours was just the right amount of time on this "bike trail like no other" (-mike riley, bike shop owner). 100% paved, rolling hills, some pretty steep. Would have been a workout on the road bikes we have at home, but e-bikes made it easy. The scenery is an amazing blend of sand dunes and woods.
