First off, let me state that I’m a huge Roger fan. If you are too, consider this: his later tour de force recording ‘In the Flesh Live!’ is SIGNIFICANTLY better in sound quality, particularly in the mix, which I feel is where this recording falls short. I know Waters and James Guthrie are perfectionists in delivering every nuance of the performances to the listeners. This NY show, while pretty good, is no where near what Roger would have endorsed for release. The mix, in particular, is spotty (I would even say awful) as in some songs you hear singers upfront with what seems to be Roger coming through the monitors and not through the house sound. Not sure if this feed was pulled through the main board, the stage board, or with the radio stations own mics, but for the huge cost of the 2 disc import, to only the most rabid fans, I’d say pass and BUY ’IN THE FLESH LIVE!’ for a lot less cash and a lot more terrific Roger Waters’ musical perfection.

This is the complete concert from March 28, 1985 at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. Eric Clapton was not on this leg of the tour (he was in the 1984 arena-tour band). Sound quality here is quite good – the notes say it was from an FM Radio Broadcast but it’s pretty clean, and I’d say it’s better than most concert boots. This is an import, probably owing to EU copyright loopholes. The actual performance is good, but I don’t know I’d say it’s great, though Rog covers some early Floyd material in the first set, and those tracks are worth hearing for sure. The 2nd Disc contains the entire “Pro’s and Con’s of Hitchhiking” album performance, plus encores. Overall, 29 songs – see setlist.fm for the set list. I’m rating it 5 stars because I’m a huge Roger fan and I’m happy to have this in my collection (particularly, a live performance of Pro’s and Con’s, which I love), in such good quality; I might only consider taking it down a star as some parts of the performance seem a bit less-energetic, but don’t let that stop you from getting this if you have never heard material from this tour.

Amazing live recording. It’s phenomenal. Just buy it. You will not regret it. I’m so happy there is an existent recording of Roger’s first solo album in its entirety!

Overall sound of cd is okay. It sounds muffled. Otherwise what can't you like about Roger Waters.

Outstanding performance. The Pink Floyd side is hit and miss on capturing clear vocals, but becomes solid by the middle of his Floyd set. The Pros & Cons set is incredible. If you enjoy the studio album, this live version of the full album+ is well worth the price for any deep Floyd/Waters fan.

Very good FM recording. If you are a big fan of Roger Waters - buy.

If you're a fan of Roger Waters or Pink Floyd, buy this disc. It's a full Waters concert from the 80s that was broadcast live on radio, so the sound quality is great.

The Best Quality I have heard this show
Calificado en Reino Unido 🇬🇧 el 15 de julio de 2017
Surprisingly good sounding grey market release a radio show recording from 1985 running at nearly 2 and ¼ hours this is a complete show.
Little information on the band but Clapton Fans will know he stepped out with the touring band and plays with his usual deft aplomb.
The show itself comprises a Pink Floyd highlights set which includes some songs that Roger wrote going back to 1968 'Set the Controls for the heart of the Sun' right up to the 'Final Cut' 'Gunners dream', 'Southampton Dock'.
The second set being the complete and rather unjustifiably panned 'Pros and Cons of hitchhiking' Album. The Live version stretches out some songs and retains a dynamic feel much like the original album.
Its my opinion that the show is taken from original recordings rather than off air tapes, and is not as reverby as some copies of this I have heard.
The booklet offers nothing new and no real indication of the touring band
Overall a very good job and better than a lot of live recordings from the era.

When I reviewed the Live Radio CD earlier this year I expressed a wish that a live recording of Rogers' first solo tour be released. Well, here it is. Sadly there is no Eric Clapton, who only featured on the 1984 leg; this is from 1985. As if to compensate though, the first half has been extended. I was at one of the shows, at Earl's Court, in 1984, where unusually the set list was printed in the programme, which I still have. Hey You was dropped for the 1985 leg, but was replaced with Get Your Filthy Hands Off My Desert, Southampton Dock, Another Brick In The Wall Part 1, The Happiest Days Of Our Lives, and Another Brick In The Wall Part 2. Some songs have also changed their places in the running order; for instance, Welcome To The Machine moves up from 4th to open the show.
Back in 1984, I remember Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun was un unexpected highlight, with the addition of saxophone improving the song over the 1968 original. During the song, a breeze blew through the audience, enhancing the spooky atmosphere. I expect this was a coincidence - Earls Court is a draughty place - but I still like to think it was part of the production! Listening to the version here brings back spine tinging memories.
The quality of the sound is good; you probably wouldn't know it was a radio broadcast if it didn't say so on the cover. For the first half, many of the Floyd classics have been rearranged somehwat, and this works better for some songs than others. As mentioned earlier, the addition of sax enhances Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun, as it does on Welcome To The Machine, which takes its' time building to a crescendo. Elsewhere new arrangements are less successful. Another Brick In The Wall badly misses David Gilmour's lovely, liquid guitar solo at the end - instead you get some rather messy, over elaborate playing, while Have A Cigar seems to have the wrong bass line entirely.
Set 2, Pros and Cons in its' entirety (plus and encore of Brain Damage and Eclipse), is played with panache and conviction, perfectly evoking the disjointed uneasiness of a dream you can't quite wake from, although once again, it suffers somewhat from not having the original guitarist - in this case Eric Clapton - on stage. This is particularly evident on the title track, (one of the best songs Roger Waters has ever written, incidentally) where some of the solos are played on sax or keyboards. Roger also fluffs the "body on the plain" line, though it's surprising, when you think about it, that there isn't more of this. The Pros & Cons Of Hitchhiking is a very wordy album.
Overall, then, a welcome souvenir of a tour now over 30 years old, which slots in nicely with the Live Radio and In The Flesh shows. With luck, we won't have to wait so long for the release of Roger's current Us & Them tour.

This is a good quality CD

This is a good quality CD. The great thing about the actual concert is that it is from the second leg of the tour. Eric Clapton is gone and instead of replacing his guitar parts with someone copying them or doing something similar, they are more or less gone altogether. Roger replaced Clapton with other instruments, Piano parts, Saxophone etc. There are some lead guitar parts but they are different and much less numerous. This is a good thing in my opinion because, we have the original album, which is a masterpiece, with Clapton on and here we have a very different production as a result of his absence.
This makes for a much fresher and different version of the album. the band aren't just playing The Pros and Cons as was, and I love it for it. The backing singers do a lot more, there are extra bits of song, and Roger's voice and attack is absolutely at his best.
I'd love a great quality CD with Clapton on too, don't get me wrong, here's hoping they release one.
The Pink Floyd section is fantastic too. Roger wasn't trying to sound like Pink Floyd at all at this point in his career and he gives all the songs a new live production, which really work. He doesn't just pick the greatest hits either and you can hear that a lot of thought and passion went into these new renditions of great songs.
For the price, this is a brilliant package.

Contains almost all Roger Waters solo tracks

Super! While volume 1 of Pros and Cons of New York contains all Pink Floyd tracks, This double album ( vol.2) is basically a live version of Roger Waters 1984 debut solo LP 'The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking' My 5 star review is due to my love of that record-and anyone not familiar with it should perhaps check it out before buying 'Pros and Cons of New York volume 2'
If you know and love the studio album, these live recordings are excellent and fascinating...

The Cons and Cons Of Amazon selling bootlegs...still :(
Calificado en Reino Unido 🇬🇧 el 16 de mayo de 2019
Amazed your still getting away with it Amazon. Your delivery and customer service is top notch. But your quality control isnt by any means.
Horrendously crap silver pressed unofficial bootleg with amazingly is also available on vinyl. Do yourself a favour and google "Radio City or bust" and download it for free as the sound is far superior. The sound on this drops out and deteriorates even worse on cd two. Disgrace. And totally unauthorised by Roger Waters.
