      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

With Cailee Spaeny's performance in the title role leading the way, Priscilla sees Sofia Coppola taking a tender yet clear-eyed look at the often toxic blend created by mixing first love and fame.

      Audience Says

Priscilla is well-acted and suitably sad, but be prepared for a slow-moving movie that can feel more like a series of scenes than a complete story.

Wenlei Ma PerthNow Sofia Coppola is gifted at capturing the interiority of her young female characters. Rated: 4/5 Jan 22, 2024 Full Review Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald As Priscilla, Cailee Spaeny effortlessly spans her journey from wide-eyed adolescence to disillusioned young womanhood, while Australia’s Jacob Elordi... has no difficulty in evoking Elvis’s glamour. Rated: 3.5/5 Jan 18, 2024 Full Review Stephen Romei The Australian It is fascinating and touches on some of the themes Coppola explores in this remarkable movie. Rated: 4/5 Jan 13, 2024 Full Review Chris McCoy Memphis Flyer From Lost in Translation to Marie Antoinette to Somewhere, Coppola keeps returning to lonely young women who see beauty in the world that others miss. In Priscilla, she has found her perfect subject. May 21, 2024 Full Review Jeffrey Overstreet Looking Closer Spaeny, convincingly playing a 14-year-old dressed up to look 24, and respectfully adored by cinematographer Philippe Le Sourd, is so magnetic in every scene of Priscilla that even Jacob Elordi’s Elvis almost dissolves when she’s onscreen beside her. Rated: B+ Apr 29, 2024 Full Review Jaylan Salah InSession Film Coppola’s anti-fairytale was doused in perfume and pink wallpaper to zoom in on a woman at the heart of manipulation, gaslighting, grooming, and possessive love. But it works, a great companion piece to Coppola’s filmography... Apr 17, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

jorge r This was a better movie than I expected overall, and it was nice to see a film as a contrast to the previously released Elvis film. Although I was not fond of the actor who played Elvis and did not find him wholly convincing, it was interesting to see a darker side to things and to not see him painted in some odd sainthood or worship. The whole relationship between them is definitely unnerving, and I still cannot quite fathom what her parents were thinking. Different time I guess, but still. Eye Opening! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/15/24 Full Review Jackeline I thought it was very dull. The story line could have been a lot better. She barely spoke and this was suppose to be about her life with Elvis. Not a very good movie. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/15/23 Full Review M Great movie. They aged Priscilla really well and really gave her the spotlight as opposed to the Elvis movie with Austin Butler. Jacob also plays a better Elvis than Austin. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/14/23 Full Review Jay There's a reason Lisa Marie didn't approve of the script. It felt like the film purposely trashed Elvis at every opportunity while portraying Priscilla as the victim who was completely helpless. Sofia Coppola is such a great director but I didn't enjoy this film at all. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/07/23 Full Review Anton It was boring and full of old news. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/04/23 Full Review sarah b a little slow paced, but overall, a great movie. Excellent acting and cinematically beautiful. I also liked the score.
