Princess Fiona (simply known as Fiona) is the tritagonist of the Shrek franchise. She is the tritagonist in Shrek, the tetartagonist in Shrek 2 and Shrek the Third, and the deuteragonist in Shrek Forever After.

Background[]

Fiona was born in the kingdom of Far Far Away as the only child of King Harold and Queen Lillian. At some point in her early years, she was secretly betrothed to Prince Charming by her father as repayment to the Fairy Godmother for turning him human. This marriage would never take place however.

Fiona was under a curse (implied to be casted by the Fairy Godmother) that between sunrise and sunset she was a human, and at twilight an ogre.

Fairy Godmother locked her away in a tower. There was a semi-complex plan where Prince Charming was supposed to rescue Fiona and marry her. It was the King's way of repaying the Fairy Godmother for a favour she had done him while courting Fiona's mother (King Harold was originally a frog and the Fairy Grandmother allowed him to pursue his dream of marrying and loving Lillian, by making him human).

When several fairy tale creatures were forced to relocate to Shrek's swamp by Lord Farquaad, the tyrant offered a deal: If Shrek could rescue Fiona from her castle and bring her back to Farquaad, he would receive the deed to his swamp. Shrek and Donkey traveled to the castle, rescued Fiona, and began traveling back to Duloc. Along the way though, the two fell in love. Due to a misunderstanding though, Shrek allowed Fiona to go with Farquaad to marry him, even though he loved her. Getting his deed, Shrek headed back to his swamp, but a confrontation with Donkey cleared up the misunderstanding, and Shrek went to Fiona's wedding to reveal his love to her. However, Fiona also revealed her secret, which made Farquaad decide not to marry Fiona, and he tried to kill her. Thankfully, another save from Donkey brought an end to Farquaad's reign, and Shrek and Fiona happily wedded.

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Superhuman Strength: Much like her husband Shrek, Fiona's physical strength far exceeds that of a normal human's. She can lift trees three times her own size, threw a mermaid a great distance into the ocean, can send fully grown men flying, and even held and spun a ball so heavy three ogres were needed to throw it.
  • Enhanced Speed and Agility: Fiona is able to jump around opponents and dodge enemy attacks at surprising speed, and can preform complex moves in battle.
  • Enhanced Durability: Thanks to her ogre physiology, Fiona is considerable more durable than a normal human. While sparring with Shrek in the fourth film, she took a punch to the face from the larger, stronger ogre, and continued fighting without serious damage.
  • Combat Proficiency: Fiona is a master in both armed and unarmed combat, capable of defeating entire groups of armed men and easily keep up with Shrek in a sparring session.
  • Matrix Slow Mo's: Whenever she's in a fight, Fiona can freeze time Matrix-style, and is fully aware of these events. However, people who are aware of these slow mo's can bypass them.
  • Singing: Fiona's high note is so loud, it causes birds to bloat up and explode, and is strong enough to send people flying.

Equipment[]

  • Shurikens: Fiona carries shurikens powerful enough to send opponents flying for long range attacks.
  • Braided Hair: Even her hair can be useful in combat; Fiona used it to knock out one of Robin Hood's merry men while fighting them.
