Prince William, Kate Middleton and royals honor Prince Philip on social media

Members of the royal family, including Prince William and Kate Middleton, are paying respect to the late Prince Philip with subtle gestures on social media.

The official Instagram account for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge changed its profile photo from the couple’s three children to their official monogram.

The royal family’s account also followed suit, replacing the photo of Queen Elizabeth II with the United Kingdom’s crest.

And Clarence House — the official account for Prince Charles and Camilla — uploaded a pic of the Prince of Wales’ crest.

All three accounts also posted the same black-and-white photo of Philip in his military uniform, with the message announcing his passing at age 99.

“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh,” the statement reads. “His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle. The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss. Further announcements will be made in due course.”

Meanwhile, the royal family’s official website was also rejiggered Friday in remembrance of the duke.

“The official website of the Royal Family is temporarily unavailable while appropriate changes are made,” the site says, below a photo of Philip.
