every1 on RYM feels the same about Raveonettes. we just know too much about the influences on the group. if, for example, we had only heard Lady GaGa and Justice all day...well then we'd prob me massive fans. the issue is that not only do we know Jesus and Mary Chain, Velvet Underground etc we also know Everly Brothers and all the other jazz that make up a new group trying to do the shoegaze twist you find with Danish duo Raveonettes. give them a shot. i mean...they are kind of fun. and people like Jenny Lewis and she's pretty much a total rip off too.

Whaz so bad about ripp offz? ALOT. I mean...when its on I'm OK. its the kind of music where you don't listen to the lyrics. you just sort of have it in the background and that's fine. it doesn't make me better. it doesn't make worse. we all have bands as such.

ps "LA and all her crazy charms" is a great line.

Strange really, a band too in love with what they want to be, and losing track of what they actually are. Songs like Love In A Trashcan prove that the potential is there, so it's a shame that they spend so much time determinedly aping others. Much better albums preceded and followed this hit and miss effort.

The album strangely contains their both strognest and weakest material.

Best: Seductress of Bums, Love in a Trashcan, Here Comes Mary, Ode to L.A.

Worst: Sleepwalking, Twilight, You Say You Lie.

Quite a change from their previous record, but still an enjoyable listen. The group covers several genres on this record: pop, folk rock, indie rock, and 60's girl group pop. Even though the songs offer a lot of variety, the album flows surprising well. It's nothing particularly innovative, but it's an enjoyable pop album. It's one of the band's less popular releases, but I would personally consider this album a good starting point for this band, mostly due to the album's relative accessibility.

What I enjoyed: "Here Comes Mary", "Ode to L.A."

What I didn't enjoy: "Love in a Trashcan", "If I Was Young."

The Raveonettes sound like they ran out of ideas, pure and simple. The blueprint from Chain Gang of Love is still here, but the music is simply awful. Vapid, empty noise masquerading as pop music. It's remarkable how well they bounced back with Lust Lust Lust, but at the time, this felt like a one-note band completely failing to repeat a winning formula.

The one Raveonettes album that stands out a little bit from their discography. Ironically it's also their most conventional album and also their one album that I don't like as much as their others.
It's still 4 Stars though.

I liked how each song had something a little different in it. Really cool chill music but I thing I had a special album because mine has about 5 more songs. I listened to this while doing homework but the album still seemed to drag a little.

The vast trek across the plains of the USA, Leaving NY, stopping in small towns, making friends and enemies, drowning in Sunshine in Texas and finally driving towards LA.
